iWhat happens when you lock the following persons in room with one plate of food and a gun?

Catholic, Protestant, Israeli, Palestinian, Muslim, Hindu, American, Iraqi, Hutu, Tutsi, Sinhalese, Tamil, Spaniard, Basque.

The American would give his share to the Israeli. The Israeli would give his left-overs to the Palestinian. The Muslim would refuse as it was the time of Ramadan. The Catholic would tell the Hindu that it contained beef and pig. The others would be playing with the gun, except the Spaniard who would be having a siesta. The Basque would be telling the Tamil of his latest terror weapon. The Iraqi would be keeping his mouth closed and saying nothing whilst the Hutu and Tutsi would be trying to get out of the room as they cannot stand the sight of each other. The Protestant would be arguing that anyone who joined their religion could have their share of the food.........

If you are just going to lock them in a room using a standard door and lock, I would guess they would all shoot the lock off and walk out.

I do not believe any of the ethnic identities, or religious background would affect anything in this situation, the person is still an individual, and will make their own decision, therefore this question cannot be answered.

Not only this, self preservation is one of the strongest drives that we have. Most people would hold on and hope for rescue. You look at he Uraguayan rugby team that crashed in the Andes mountains in the 1970's, they all should have given up and just died at any time, but persevered for two months in the cold high elevations in order to survive.

Survivors of the holocost could have easily ended their life at any time through non compliance, but they did what they could to survive this ordeal.

I think most people would react in a similar way, and wait for rescue. A more relevant question may instead be how would those societies view someone who died through lack of rescue, as opposed to taking thier life.

they shouldn't eat the food as it may be drugged, they should use the plate the gun and anyother potential tools thay may have about their person in order to escape, however inorder to do this they would have to get past their differences and co operate with each other which is difficult for most people to do at the best of times let alone in life or death situations like this, also you didn't say weather the gun was loaded or not, if it wasn't then that would change the probable out come of the situation.

What i do not realize is why you blended religions and cultures. What occurs if the catholic is american or the muslim is spaniard? perchance the Israeli is a protestant (not a impressive form of them, yet they do exist.) How did you layout this question. It makes no logical sense.
