One must remember, that this book is fiction. and your knowledge of Jesus must come from the Bible.

you know, i hate to use the cliche, "the book is so much better," but it's really true in this case. i'm certainly not an avid fiction reader, so i don't read a lot of books that become movies.
that said, i've read three of dan brown's books, and i've enjoyed all of them. da vinci code was a great read because of the intricate details, spider-webbed storylines, and immense background. each sub-plot or scene had a great amount of suspense, and kept you guessing along with robert langdon and sophie.
i'm not sure if it was because of time constraints or just poor direction (though ron howard usually can't be associated with the latter), but i found the movie to be less than entertaining. they moved so quickly through each scene, and everything became very predictable. they stayed fairly true to the book (aside from a few changes), but langdon and sophie would solve clues almost instantaneously; the movie moved so quickly through each clue and stepping stone.
i found the film to be very superficial, and not half the work that the book was. sir ian was probably the best part of the movie, and possibly stole the show.

The book raises some interesting concepts and furthers some interesting hypotheses. Of course the story line is great and like any good adventure, it has suspense, drama, twists, and action, but what separates this book from others in its genera are the implications of the premises of the book. If, in fact, the premise was true, it would have profound impacts on all Catholics and Protestants, one of, if not THE, foundations of their faith is based on a lie that has been covered up since the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. I think the book was well written, but if you are willing to do some reading and research, you can find that the book using half-truths, and misleading evidence to suggest a theory that cannot be and has not ever been verified. See the source list if you don't believe me.

The book is a great piece of fiction. I really enjoyed it. However, the movie falls short. It's highly entertaining and worth seeing, but it is not as good as the book. The movie would have to be at least six hours long in order for all of the book's great subplots to have been on screen. That's too long unless a mini series would have been an alternate choice of venue.

I liked it, I thought they changed a couple things from the book that could have been left alone but overall I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately all the bible thumpers out there don't realize it's just a book of fiction and that they need to get over themselves and enjoy the book and movie for what they are a medium of entertainment.

Enough truth to make it interesting, the ecunemical councils that threw out gospels of philip/mary were true, the templar knights did exist, there was a mass killing of women (witches), and there are secret societies.... The priure of sion was a hoax made up in the 1950s. I'm not sure about the legend of Sarah being the daughter of Jesus tho....

As a movie, its great,fast moving,hurried,perfectly edited.
As a base on which the movies is made(the Novel) it swellsup your gut that someone else`s religion is being tossed about.
Individual opinions depending which side of the fence you are on,
like asking IdiAmin to go vegetarian, or KarlMax to join the farmers co-operative festival loan, or Hitler to give the hippy PEACE sign and join the woodstock...........and so on.
To each his own choice.

Hi, if you have watched the movie, you remember that the pretext was that the blooldline of Jesus Christ was supposed to have passed to his wife and her bloodline. How ridiculous to believe that he has a wife, but more---that He is not diety--but rather His wife's bloodline became diety INSTEAD of Him--think about it...if He wasn't diety how much less would a wife be diety or rather...could His bloodline of children be diety if He wasn't no matter..how could His wif'e bloodline be diety based on His non-diety. Simple...Dan Brown's imagination wasn't thorough enough..Seek the Truth is the movie mantra Well-As an obvious fan of literature, you are encouraged to read about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ in the #1 bestselling book in history--the Bible. Start with the book of John, and consider what Jesus says about Himself and about those who follow Him. In essence, becoming a follower of Christ Jesus involves realizing that you are a sinner, being willing to repent of your sins, and then receiving Jesus Christ as the Savior and the Lord of your life

The book was great, and I enjoyed it immensly, but I did not like the movie.
They changed to many major things in the plot line.
Tom Hanks looks unhealthy, and did not portray Langon as he is in the book.
I don't blame his acting ability, just the script writers who completely watered down the original theme of the book.

Boring. I never read the book and had figured it out within the 1st 10 minutes. As for his theories of the Holy Grail; old news. I learned about it in highschool, from my religion teacher, who had gotten his doctoral degree from the Vatican. Those stories are over a millenium old.

The movie was definately not faithful to the book. They changed many things. Even Tom Hanks who usually acts well did'nt exactly get a chance to portray his exceptional acting skills.and i did' nt even like Sophie in the movie much either.
