He might actually be gay, and this is how he wants to start exploring it. But if that's true, you might as well find out now, because if he keeps it hidden it will eventually destroy him, or the relationship, or both. Rather than a threesome, you could suggest that you both see other people for a while, and he can hook up with some guys to see if that's what he wants. Don't marry this guy until and unless he gets his sexuality completely figured out.
I agree with the advice that you should do threesomes with strangers, if at all. I've never had a threesome either way, but if you know the 3rd person, I can only imagine it would be awkward from that day forward.
