How long have you had it and have you taken anything to try and get rid of it? If so, and it's still there, see a doctor. Mononucleosis causes a sore throat that just won't go away. It could be strep throat...which is contageious to other people. If it's only been a day or so, hang in there....but don't wait longer than that. A doctor can give you an actual diagnosis, where I don't believe any of the rest of us can. Sure...we can second guess, but that's not such a great idea when it concerns your health!

Definitely go. I've had a sore throat and I went to the doc after 3 days of it. Turns out he thinks it's strep, but won't know for sure until tomorrow. If not, he'll test for mono. Meanwhile I started on penicillin and I felt better in just a day (although I'm still a little sore and tired).

Besides, if it's nothing, you won't be the 1st person who was told it was nothing at the doctor. That's what they're there for!

Make it after 2 days. Because sore throat can usually be cured by garggling with warm water and avoiding cold drinks and ice cream. But after 2 days and it still the same, now go and see your doctor.

If it is accompanied by swollen lymph nodes, white spots, and/or a fever, go as soon as possible because it may be a bacterial infection just as Streptococcus pyogens (strep throat) which can lead to further complications when left untreated.. Otherwise, I would suggest just waiting it out, because if it's not bacterial, there's nothing the doctor will be able to do for you anyway.

It depends on how long you've had it. I wouldn't let it go to long. I f you've had it more thatn 2 days I'd go and get it checked, it may be strep throat and that's contagious. If it's just itchy, gargle with warm water and A dash of salt in an 8 ounce glass.

depends on how sore it is, wheather or not you have a fever, and anyother symptoms you may ahve. You could have strep throat and need antibiotics or worse you could have mononucleosis. I would recommend going and seeing a doctor, just to make sure you aren't really sick.

If it's so bad that your asking about it on Yahoo answers then go see a Doctor right away. A person's health is more important than money.

well, if you are afraid of getting worse, you must see a doctor right away. Prolonging it will not help anyway--you are still going to see one maybe not now but in the future if you aren't treated correctly
