MAKE THE CAKES (LAYERED) THEN CUT A HOLE IN THE CENTER,JUST BIG ENOUGH TO FIT HER LEGS IN~
CUT THE EDGES OF THE CAKE TO SHAPE THEM MORE ROUNDED LIKE A SKIRT.AND FROST AFTER SHE IS IN!THE BARBIE SHOULD ONLY WEAR A TOP.IT IS CLEANER!

Are you using the whole doll? You are should separate the doll at the waist and insert it from there. The cheaper versions of Barbie are easier to do this to. The easiest way for the designs would be to buy the tubes of decorating icing. They even have the little tips you screw on for different designs. I generally make my own frosting though. It is less expensive and then you can make it as thick as you want.

i'm not sure on what you can mix into the frosting to make it thicker, but as for the doll, you should cut a small cylinder out of the center of the cake before you try to shove the barbie in, or the cake will crumble.

First.. cut a hole in the middle where her legs can go, wrap plastic around her legs to keep cake out.

That frosting in a can is not good for decorating. The only thing is really to use sprinkles or something. You can make frosting it's easy!

I like this recipe - it's easy, as a beginner I suggest reading all the instructions first.
