A friend said she is falsely humble before her boss. I think there's nothing wrong in being proud before other people because after all they're no better than you. But under God we're all nothing, so in this light I believe we should despise ourselves for we are nothing. We should even despise others. Funnily enough, this is actually a route to loving each other truly and experiencing joy, companionship and comradeship in this journey of life.

My question is, how do I stop being proud - how can I acknowledge God has complete power over me, He can humble me if He so wishes? I find it difficult, instead preferring to live in a lie - the lie being that I'm so good, intelligent and so on, aggrandizing myself instead of realising the truth that nothing I have was not given to me, that I possess nothing in and of myself. How can I stop living the lie of pride?

False humility is when you have pride in your deeds.

For example- if you are humble and you give a beggar like 5 bucks than go around telling the world you did a good deed - that is false.

You be humble by showing gratitude, by praying silent to yourself when you do a good deed. By not complain about what others have and what you do not have- be thankful for what you have.

God cannot do everything for you- you have to be active in your salvation after all.

When you say believe in God but yet compare yourself to others and also attempt to show them that they are wrong and you are right- that is false.

It is easy to be humble if you want to be but if deep down you are just a selfish person than what can you do- only you can change that -not God.

No- I am something because I am not under any God- because I do not believe in your God.

False Humility

In his letter to the Colossians, the apostle Paul warned against the outward pretense of humility to impress men. Paul described this as “a mock humility.” Those who make a mere pretense of being humble are not spiritual people. Rather, they betray that they are really “puffed up” with pride. (Colossians 2:18, 23.) Jesus pointed to examples of such false humility. He condemned the Pharisees for their showy prayers and for the way they fasted with sad and disfigured faces to be observed by men. In contrast, for our private prayers to have value before God, they should be uttered humbly.—Matthew 6:5, 6, 16.
