It wasn't one place, but one trip. I've driven cross country (USA) 3 time, but the first time was the best. I drove from Portland Oregon to NY, NY. We took I-90 most of the whole way.
We stopped at Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, drove through Big Horn, saw one of the most amazing lightning storms (lasted 5+ hours) through the Mid-West. I've just not seen so many great sights in a 4-5 day period in my life. Made me fee really patriotic, too.
My other 2 cross country road trips (Oregon to Florida and months later, back again) were also fantastic and really fun. Never took the same way twice. Also met some great people along the way.

I traveled around europe. Made NO reservations, just took 4 weeks and went what ever direction I chose and did as I wanted. No schedules to meet. It was easier then I thought. Each country was great with being a host (well maybe not so much France). Saw an incredible amount. Got to meet and live with the locals so I got to know the inside stuff of the areas.

Wales - my ancestors are from Cardiff and immigrated to the United States in the 19 Century. It was fascinating to go there and meet distant relatives and see the places where my family came from. Wales is a very beautiful country in a wild and untamed sort of way and has a rich and interesting folklore. After a while, I half expected to see dragons peeking around the next corner! It truly is a magical place and my visit there touched me deeply. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a different kind of trip.

We went to North Carolina on vacation and stayed at the very top of a mountain in a house we rented. It was gorgeous. During the day, we'd travel around town - stop at the streams. I'd go in the middle of the stream, sit on a rock and just be in "peace" -- and being at the top of the mountain and watching small planes fly below you and the mist -- it was wonderful.

I'm agree with kings of kings.
Hawaii is a nice place. The weather is perfect and the people are really nice. The food is good too. But if you travel to popular places such as beaches, they tend to be really full, and you can't really enjoy it. If you want to relax on beach and stuffs, better go somewhere quieter.

The best place was Sandals Grande Hotel in St Lucia. It was a fabulous place, and I got married there next to the beach.

The best place I have been is Maine. We had a cabin off the lake it was wonderful during the day, and breath taking at night. I will never forget that experience.

Colorado or Virginia. I like Colorado because it's always cool and pretty up there. And, I guess my family is what makes Virginia so pretty. My cousin from Virginia is going to the Olympics in swimming in 2008.
