Well, some people are more prone to alcoholism than others. It's called prealcoholism or something of the sort and even before somebody ever drinks alcohol they can be more apt to becoming one. These people usually take more alcohol before they get drunk.
I guess you just have to control how much you drink.

It involves a genetic predisposition. There are some monkeys in the tropics who actually come down out of the trees in bars and drain the drink glasses left by guests. Out of all the monkeys that do this daily only about ten percent actually become addicted.
