FAQ: Why aren't more miracles done to convert people to Christianity?
"When only a miracle leads a person to acknowledgment of God and to adoration and piety, he acts from the natural and not the spiritual man. For a miracle infuses belief by an external and not an internal way, thus from the world and not from heaven. The Lord enters man by an internal way, by the Word and by doctrine and preaching from it. As miracles close this way, no miracles are done today" (Divine Providence n. 131).
Man is not brought by external means to think and will, thus to love and believe what pertains to religion, but the man brings himself and compels himself to do so. Self-compulsion is not contrary to rationality and freedom. (Divine Providence n. 129).
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."
-- Rev. 3:20 KJV
Miracles do not induce faith. "That miracles are of this nature can be clearly established from those performed in the presence of the people of Judah and Israel. Although they beheld many miracles in the land of Egypt and later at the Red Sea and others in the Wilderness and particularly on Mt. Sinai when the Law was promulgated, nevertheless, in a month's time while Moses tarried on that mountain, they made themselves a golden calf and hailed it as Jehovah who had led them out of the land of Egypt (Ex 32:4-6). Again, it is plain from the miracles done later in the land of Canaan; nevertheless the people fell away time and again from the prescribed worship. It is equally plain from the miracles which the Lord did before their eyes when He was in the world; yet they crucified Him. (Divine Providence n. 132).

There is proof. Its called a Bible! And there is truth in that book. You can go to the place where Jesus hung on the cross, His tomb and the place of the last dinner. I have been there and it is truely amazing. Seeming that you are not a believer, because of the question you've asked. Are you a Christian? You would know that there is real proof of Jesus, if you read the Bible. Go online and you might be able to buy a Bible, or really just run 2 Walmart. If you're looking for truth you better start readin.

You are right. The proof does not exist now as it is not supposed to b/c the message of God was not completed @ the time and miracles are only for short term effects to get from pt A to pt B and thus a limited religion to a limited time and peoples. There is a miracle that has lasted unchanged until today from the Final Prophet.

Well let's examine your question just a tad. Do you really think people will still be talking about Chriss Angel in the next two thousand years and all his illusions? No. People still talk about Jesus' miracles for a very good reason I suppose. It's a matter of personal faith and the slightest bit of deductive reasoning that will lead you to believe that Jesus' was no mere illusionist. Just stop trying to be a critic and start reasoning objectively.

Miracles happen everyday! Every time something happens and you wonder why in the world they didn't die or were not hurt, That is a miracle. God was watching over them. Every time something in your life happens that is good, that is God watching over you. In my own experience, God healed my mother of M.S. she was in a wheelchair about to die and my dad wheeled her into church where a revival was going on, and she got out of the chair and walked after they prayed for her and she has been healed ever since- 30 years - God doesn't always heal the sick because he has a time for every one to die - if you get healed, then it wasn't your time and he is giving you a great testimony to tell people and try to get them to believe as well. Miracles always happen, every time a child is born it is a miracle. Someone doesn't have to walk on water or do something magical for it to be a miracle. Look around you- they are everywhere.

Child of God, there is proof that Jesus was more than an illusionist. First, you have the eye-witness accounts of his miracles.
Well it's true that you were an *eye-witness* to an illusionists trick, consider that no illusionist works without help. Someone has to build their props, help them rehearse, even act as an "on-stage" distraction. And that's another thing -- a stage. An illusionist carefully choses his environment -- it's separate from his normal life. Your *eye-witness* account was only for his performance !
Jesus' normal life was where he performed his miracles. His eye-witness accounts were from his closest friends and companions, not audiences at selected performances. His friends were willing to suffer and die for their Faith in his claim to be the Son of God. Millions of people over the years have done the same.
Is there any illusionist for whom others are willing to sacrifice their lives in defense of him should he claim to be divine? More likely, those who were closest to him and knew his secrets would sell them to the highest bidder !
The consistency (for better or worse) of human nature is proof that Jesus was genuine. He convinced even those to whom he was closest -- for more than 3 years spent almost every moment together -- that not only performed miracles, but was the promised Messiah.

There was proof: The people at the wedding where Jesus turned the water into wine, knew they brought in jugs of water, but when they drank it,it was wine: Every person whom Jesus healed was a witness to the miracles he performed: The people who saw Jesus cast (Legion the demons) out of the possed man,and cast them into the swine also saw this miracle: The blind man who Jesus healed, could not see, until Jesus healed him;so to say there is no proof is ludicrous.

I don't think jesus was an illusionist -- I think the "miracles" were added on to his own teachings when the stories of his life were written. You have to remember that all of the gospels were written 60-100 years after he died, none of them are eyewitness accounts. Adding on miracles helps to elevate him to a god-like position, and make him the center of a group's worship, instead of just the good human and teacher that he was. The "miracles" were made-up after the fact by those promoting the religion that had arisen long after he died.

Criss Angel must be the second coming of Jesus. That would make David Blaine the Anti-Christ. Praise hail the unholy power of BLAINE!

Gospel of Thomas would not point out any miracles or resurrections from the lifeless, in spite of the indisputable fact that it does point out that Jesus revealed some issues basically to Thomas. There are 3 people who, in accordance to different gospels, have been the main disciples... - Judas. (NT accuses him of being a traitor) - Thomas. (NT makes him appear like a doubter) - The Tower. (NT accuses her of being demon-possessed, church fathers additionally proclaim her a prostitute) precisely those 3 are, in accordance to "the different christianity", the closest disciples. exciting, isn't it? additionally exciting is that for the time of accordance to the NT, Jesus palms over the keys to Peter, yet basically some verses away Jesus calls Peter "devil". Paul did no longer like Peter the two, or James for that count, and James rapidly contradicts Paul. i think of various the NT isn't something however the disciples having a circulate at one yet another.
