I need to run a sony CD player for a weekend. It has to run for an hour twice a day for 3 days. I don't really want to spend lots on batteries so I would like a small portable generator but don't know what to use and how much to pay?

Maybe think again. 6 hours is not much use, and batteries may be your cheapest and easiest way to go. If you don't like changing batteries, find a CD player that takes larger ones (AA or C) or a boom box that takes D. For long term use, I found a 12 volt cord that plugs into the CD DC power socket and connected it to a small "motorcycle" battery which can be recharged from an auto battery charger, or direct from your car battery with jumper cables.

You can buy a re-chargeable battery that you can re-charge in your car. It is easier that way. Or get an Ipod or an MP3 player that can be recharge in the car while you are traveling.

You can probably get a small one at walmart or any home improvement store.
