Catholics don't usually use language of this kind to describe conversion, words of a kind that cannot be found anywhere in the Bible, which promotes baptism by water and spirit as the start of the journey. God does the work; we at most cooperate with it. Catholics put more emphasis on the journey itself (like L'Arche Hymne) then on a moment of conversion - since many Catholics are raised from birth as Christians. The journey is how we "ask him into our heart" - by doing it every day.

As even the singer Michael W Smith puts it, "one million miles it starts with a step or two." The moment of conversion - which for me did come with adulthood - is just a small piece of the journey. Even coming to Christ was a long and difficult journey, with bumps in the roads. I'd still single out the Easter Saturday retreat I did as the moment when I let Christ into my heart - but it was more insistent than me asking Christ into my heart - that I'd been doing for months. No - this was Jesus insisting his way into my heart. My whole life flashed before me, and I saw it all over again, with new eyes. I saw all the times Jesus had been with me, all the ways he'd intervened to help me.

But it is not about the moment, or the age. It is a lifelong journey. I am asking him now. I will ask tomorrow. I asked yesterday. I will continue to ask him into my heart, I hope, until my dying day, and I hope he lets me bow before the King of Glory.

i asked Christ into my heart at a very young age, like 6 or so. however, that was because someone told me to do it. i actually did not sincerely ask Christ into my heart with full undestanding of what that meant until recently...23 years old.

I was 25 years old. I was at church. The preacher was preaching on hell. God was dealing with my heart. I heard a voice say, don"t go up there in front of all them people, you are young and have plenty of time. I started crying. It was like the hand of God pulled me, then i was up front asking God to save me. I am so thankful i did not listen to the devil. When God saved me, I had the greatest peace, and love that came over me. I thank Him for saving me.

just after i turned 19.

the praise and worship captured me and ministered to my spirit while visiting a friends church.

God was preparing me...ive always loved music, its meant alot to me coz i had nothing else in my childhood really, then i heard the beautiful sounds of genuine worship and the joyful sounds of praises ringing and i just knew. its Jesus or nothing. i always believed in my heart, somewhere, somehow, that Jesus was real, but id never asked Him into my heart, never realised there is so much more to believing than just beliving. now nothing else in the world will ever be good enough, my Father in heaven is all i want, all i need. He called me then, He's calling me still...no turning back :-)

Praise the Lord for His awesome Love and Salvation!

I actually became born again just this year, and I am 43. I watch Joel Osteen on TV. I am really really impressed with his way of captivating an audience (me), so now, my entire family watches on Sunday, then afterwards we take out our notebooks, and have a small study session, with Q & A. Kids are 10 and 15, and so far they are into it.
