Having worked in the food service industry for awhile I will agree that periodic medical exams would be beneficial but that will not happen soon because that would require the company to provide and pay for these medical exams as many of these employers DON'T provide health insurance and if they do it is at a price that few employees can afford...Also if companies and employees followed the safety procedures EVERY time then that would eliminate alot of the threat...When I was working in a nationally known restaurant there were times when I would see employees throwing up in the restrooms and managment would not want to send them home they would have to force them to let them leave without losing their job so there alot of different ways we could reduce the risk but you will have to convince these large corporate restaurants to follow the guidlines in place before we should take a step like requiring medical exams

I've worked in the food industry and the hotel industry and I agree. I think people should have to get check ups and exams to make sure they aren't contagious.

It won't happen though. There's a thing called privacy. It's against the law to warn customers that an employee at the facility has something like hepatitis or AIDS. I know. My company was sued because someone mentioned to a customer that their housekeeper had a disease and the people treated the employee harshly.

Maybe...but I worked with the public at an airport for 31 years and was advized by medical professionals that people like us (in contact with so many others and infectious diseases) have very strongly developed immune systems...our bodies have learned to cope extremely well.

I think thats a great idea? but we are having a hard enough time trying to find who some of these people are, let alone get them to go get checked out.

I think it is a great idea. However, due to the expense involved, it would only make it more difficult to staff these places.
