in the USA, I have a question for you. I am a legal resident of the USA and I have a lot of MIXED feelings on this issue. Who do you think is going to work picking the tomatoes in the fields? We have a foundry in town that is very very hot (warehouse - in FL) - melted metal. People will start working there one day and NEVER return because it hot hard work. Who do you think is going to do this work if they all leave? I'm just curious. See, if they do leave, don't you believe that our agriculture/industry prices will have to go up because they will have to be forced to pay higher wages for such work by a US citizen. Just something to think about - what are your thoughts? Like I said, I have somewhat mixed feelings. Am not "arguing" with anyone.

Do not be ashamed about 'arguing' with anyone, - this is America baby, if there's every a place to find a lot of "free speech" floating around, then this is the place.

I have not been following this story very closely AT ALL. But, I think the most applicable concepts are as follows.

1. We are a nation of laws and representational government. We should be able to pass our laws and expect reasonable enforcement of those laws.

2. As a threat to this democracy, aliens are entering this country, bleeding our resources in regards to education and medical resources, and sometimes voting. Just as much as a threat, our govn't representatives are ignoring law, and / or trying to change law to suit their political ends.

3. What ever the laws / wages might be, the marketplace will eventually adjust and whether tomatoes cost $2 or $8, is the marketplace to decide. I don't like poor welfare, corporate welfare, or farmer / immigrant welfare / subsidies.

I personally feel that the republicans LIKE the mexicans, since... it's their own little minority, and they are more likely vote republican. The democats have their blacks, now we have ours.

I disguising the true costs, the states pay for welfare type monies, while the Federal govn't reaps huge amounts from the mexicans paying Social Security and then never collecting on it.

It's true that prices will go up, but it is worth it. It isn't that they do jobs americans don't want, its that they do jobs for less than americans will work for. We need to hold all workers to the same standards and need all our companies to comply with our laws. It is not right that someone can just walk in our country, get a job and keep all he earns. I work too and am forced to pay income taxes as well as paying into programs such as social security. You might argue that they'll never recieve social security so they don't need to pay, but there is a good chance that i might not recieve it either. I still have over 40 yrs of working before i'm eligable. Do you think it's fair to the immigrants who go about coming over here legally that we award the people that just crossed the same rights that they waited to get? And if they cross our border knowing it is illegal, then it shows no respect for our laws. So for those who say most illegals are law abiding, think about it. They are ILLEGAL meaning they broke the law so how is that law abiding?

See you are wrong in your assumption of prices going up. Something is only "worth" what someone is willing to pay for it. The Law of Supply and Demand reigns supreme in economics. The price can only rise as high as what people are willing to pay. As soon as they rise it higher, the product doesn't sale, and they make no money. Paying higher wages means business owners pull in less profit, not that the prices are going to sky rocket. People telling you that have no clue how our economic system works. There might be some increases in prices, but not anywhere near as high as the pro-illegals would like you to believe. Supply and Demand sets prices, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I am not arguing with you.
but this issue will go away after elections.
This is the gay marriage thing all over again.
Immgration is a issue repugs can run on to show they are distanced from a low polling president.

this was well thought out. The President of Mexico and The US have negotiated the acceptance of immgrants as long as Mexico privatizes its oil.

have a good day.

In my own opinion, I think we should be more humans concerning this issue. I have many friends who are illegals but they have been reporting their taxes for the last 10 years. It is not fear that now some American people want to remove them from this wonderful country. USA is a land of opportunities. The only thing that I can say about this issue is that we need to be working in hte same vission. If we start making division in our communities the only thing we are going to get is an empty heart. God loves everybody. USA is bleassed by the hand of God, never forget that. So please respect everybody and we will find peace in our hearts. Concerning the jobs that illegals are doing now, please do you think you are going to pick up potates, trash, or another hard duties for 5.15 per hour. I do not think so we are going to do so. If we want to see America with out hard working people we are not going to be abble to leave confortable in the near future. God bless everyone. We should make peace not division. I love you in the name of God. Bye.

Ok. I was born in the United States but with legal resident parents. I have mixed feelings too. Ok why does the borders exist? Didn't God made the world for everybody. Ok so everybody should be able to go to other countries when they want. God did NOT make up the borders. The people did the Politics. So why can't this world be how God made and not the Polictics? I with you.

Friends,
Unless you work in the fields of tomatoes, oranges, avocados, etc, etc, you pay taxes. One requirement to work for any company is a social security card. Many times this card is a fake, but the employer takes a part from your check and pay the taxes to that social security number. See, you pay taxes anyway, even if you are a illegal alien.

Legal workers...are good...Illegals are not good.
The US issues work visas..student visas...tourist visas..etc...

The problem is not with those who come here legally, work, and leave when their visas expire..the problem is that too many come here illegally..and many that come her legally...(seasonal work visas) never leave.
They put a strain on our social, education, medical, judicial and law enforcement systems.

The US can not take in..every poor person..from other countries...The Mexicans that were demonstrating in our streets..a few months ago..for rights..should have been demonstrating in their home country..for "rights" and a better life...If they are here illegally..they have no reason to demand..anything..but..a plane ticket back to their homeland..
As for pickin oranges..etc..Many US citizens have worked in the fields.
Of course your not going to hire a US citizens to work in the fields...for $20 a day..see..the illegals are driving wages down..not up.

I pick my own tomatoes and I don't charge more because I do--and I would pay more if my Medical went down. And my farm didn't suffer and other farms won't neither unless you sell all the farms off for housing.
If your not arguing than be reasonable.

actually...having people work at low wages is counterproductive to the american way of life...
why do you think henry ford made the production line so productive..???
if we have to pay higher prices for our food, then some ingenious soul will come up with a better way to do it..mchanizing it, or delivering it to you...
thats our lazy american way..we invent things to make life easier..if we keep paying people substandard wages to do things we dont want to do...we are actually hurting the invention and progress of humanity...
