Although the spelling of behemoth and Leviathan may be slightly different, we still use those same words are still in bibles today. However, tanniyn is always translated into another word when we write it in English. Tanniyn occurs 28 times in the Bible and is normally translated “dragon.” It is also translated “serpent,” “sea monster,” “dinosaur,” “great creature,” and “reptile.” Tanniyn is a more general term, and it can be thought of as the original version of the word “dinosaur.” The word “dinosaur” was originally coined in 1841, more than three thousand years after the Bible first referred to “Tanniyn.”

•It “eats grass like an ox.”
•It “moves his tail like a cedar.” (In Hebrew, this literally reads, “he lets hang his tail like a cedar.”)
•Its “bones are like beams of bronze,
His ribs like bars of iron.”
•“He is the first of the ways of God.”
•“He lies under the lotus trees,
In a covert of reeds and marsh.”

I've seen many references to this idea in the past, but God isn't about tricks or misleading us, so if dinosaurs were to be mentioned in the Bible I think God would let us know more clearly. Also, the Bible isn't the only piece of historical account from that region in that time and there are no reliable accounts of dinosaurs. The references are ambiguous, so it's hard to tell what exactly is being referred to. Also, remember that for a long time crocodiles and alligators were referred to as dragons, and that leviathan could very well be a large elephant or other animal we do have records of. Although young earth theorists argue the world is only 6,000 years old, there is no science to support this and dinosaurs died out long before us. Why would God, good as He is, allow us to live next to such dangerous creatures? In fact, could not have God allowed the dinosaurs to become extinct to prepare the way for us? The point you bring up is interesting, but there's no science to support it, and you don't have to try and mix belief in science... if you believe God is good and the Creator, that's all you need to know, and one day we will have all the answers, but as a Christian and someone who's read up on nature and evolution the interpretation that dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible is just that... an interpretation and an opinion but there's nothing to back it up. Blessings,

Brian

I've been studying dinosaurs for a while from a biblical perspective because I believe the has to say something about. A behemoth cannot be an elephant because elephants don't have tails like cedars. What if God made them first on day six but Lucifer interrupted then God destroyed them to make way for the animals we know today. I'm still trying to understand how dinosaurs and men could have existed together as some suggest because there were a lot of dinosaurs. There whole existence was kill or be killed which really doesn't reflect God's character. However were not made to reflect God's character but men were. Animals were made to conceal God because God hides himself. Lucifer exists and God made the earth made his wisdom which means he made it with boobie traps to catch Satan in the act of rebellion.

Let's see. To begin with, Bible is not an encycopedia, answering all kind of question. As a believer, I do not pretent that Bible have the answer to all questions in the world.

in the first 11 chapters, it speaks of history of mankind, and the fall, from chapter onwards, it is about the love of God to the mankind.

The Lord had choosen Abraham to bless other nations. The israelite coming out of Egypt suppse to be a nation of priesthood to shows the rest of the nations how to worship God. (The failed, but join them instead).

In King Solomon's pray mentioned in 1 Kings 8:43, the temple was made so that even the Gentile can come to worship God. (but the people turn it into market place, and Jesus chased them all out).

Dinosaurs? I do believe they are created by God. I think in Job, it imply the greatness of God right? Thus the mentioning of all these creatures.

I believe they are dinosaurs. But again, I have no problem if people says that they are not dinosaurs. To me, what is important is, that this great God love me so much that he gave his only begotton Song to die for me. And I need to respond back with love.

bible is not the ultimate truth. there where thriving civilizations even before bible was written. for proper understanding of the real world and the universe we must seek sciences help.
infact people commit the mistake of dragging religion to all sorts of wrong places like science and medicine. do you know how many people are in agony just because a few don't "feel good" abt stem cell research. and medical termination of prehnancies are sometimes needeed to help really ill women whose life could be endangered.

If you're writing a book that is going to serve as a guide to social morals and mores, are you going describe small, rather average animals or will you elaborate a little and make it more interesting? Throw in some sea-serpents and dragons?
All I 'm saying is that every good writer will embellish a little....
