I think I can help....The Word of GOD says in Romans 12:2:
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
GOD desires that we exemplify the mind of Christ throughout our saved lives.....The way that I have overcome thoughts is to convert them into praise and worship. If you are thinking about sex or lust or anyting of the sort, begin to worship in the open or to yourself. This will take your mind off of idle thoughts and onvert them into a way of glorifying GOD..

Not familiar with the "Battlefield" series.
In my view, God gave us free will.
We can choose between right/wrong, good/bad, work to improve ourselves or let our lives falter and wither away (be it from lack of education, abusing drugs/alcohol, etc.).
I suspect that most of the people in this world have had a similar experience as yours.
You are obviously maturing and questioning is the correct path towards maturity.
Keep reading, learning and exploring.

Yes, daily we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Thoughts come into our minds that we dont want to have, therfore we must cast down everything that comes against the knowedge of God in our thinking. Alot of things come against God in our thinking. Vain thoughts, sexual thoughts, i am not good enough thoughts, a lot of stinking thinking rises. We must remember that we are not alone, and God is here to help us with our thoughts. Casting down thoughts that harm us, literally means, choosing to think differently. When a thought arises in us that is negative, counteract it with a positive thought immediately. Dont ponder on it, cause if you do, it will lead you down unhappy trails. This takes a little bit of time to put in practice. Usually, what i do is, when a thought comes that i know is not the way i think, i say, Huh, that is not me, why would i think like that? and it goes away. If you never fight against it, you give it reasons to stay. You must fight.
