I can speak 4 languages fluently, my wife 3 -- but we don't force languages other than english on our kids. They're exposed to other languages, so they realize that there are different ways of speaking, but we're waiting for them to show their own interest rather than forcing it on them.

Yes, it would enable them to communicate with more people in the world. Just because this is America doesn't mean that we only speak English. Here in Texas, for example, there's alot of people that speak just Spanish, or very little English. It would also help them when they're older, as many companies prefer hiring people who speak and understand more than just 1 language.

DO IT! hah no longer simplest is it going to be priceless for them of their long term to be bilingual (exceptionally Spanish) however it's honestly validated to upgrade their cognitive competencies, and they're going to be greater at English as a right away outcome. They can have the potential to be taught new languages simpler as they grow older. You and your husband already talk the language, so do what any one else mentioned and talk spanish at dwelling. They gets tons of English from the external global, but when they understand Spanish, exceptionally with the long run the US goes to have, it's going to be valuable tp have this language ability. Also, children do not simply lose the "spongy" potential jeje, nevertheless it does fade away as they grow older. They manner it really works is that after they be taught different languages extra nueral pathways are shaped within the Left mind, commencing their minds to much more talents and permitting them to excel in different methods, reminiscent of Mathematics, and Logic. One factor to do even though is not to make it a chore to be taught it, however simply anything that they're going to evidently be taught, and even greater a recreation (provided that they're reluctant to be taught it which i doubt is the case). Well Good success!!!

Most definitely, learning 2 languages (or more) at an early age is much easier than trying to learn as an adult. With all the different people migrating to the US i think that it is very important to teach our children how to communicate with everyone, no more language barriers. I am definitely not saying that people don't need to learn English when they come to this country but being bi-lingual will be almost essential as our children grow. Not only does it help in social matters but most jobs these days have starting bonus for people who are bi-lingual.

Yes, I would. It's far easier to learn a different language when you're very young than once you get into high school. Besides, being bilingual in today's society is very helpful.

If I had it to do over again I would make sure that my kids spoke English and Spanish perfectly. Living in the SW United States it will be essential to speak and read Spanish. English only in the US is a fantasy.

No. We live in America, therefore, we speak English. If we lived in France, we would speak French. If we lived in Mexico, we would speak Spanish. If you want to speak a language other than the one that is spoken by the majority of the population, then move to another country where the language you want to speak is the national language. If you want to live in a country that speaks a language different from your natural tongue, then learn the language of that country!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course! It is a way for them to learn about your family's culture. In some cases, it may be the only way for them to communicate with relatives...(ie grandparents)
Plus, it is a HUGE asset to the business world to have bi-lingual
employees, so it can only help their future job prospects.
