I don't agree.....but I live and let live.

There will ALWAYS be people out there who will be saying things like this that I may or may not agree with. I am not going to "waste" my emotions over a comment I don't agree with. :-)

'Sides, there are occasions that is said mainly to troll and anger others. I don't see the point in angering people for fun.

It makes me feel pretty damned angry myself. Because it shows me just how sure a person can be in their convictions, even though they are clearly wrong. People that say this have no idea what an atheist really is. They think that atheists are just theists who are angry at god and so forth. Your standard theist has no comprehension whatsoever that they can still have thoughts without believing in their god. They've never considered life without one. I run into this all the time.

It's a form of insanity, actually. And it's really amazing to watch sometimes.

I don't hear it a lot, but when I do, I say, "I'm an atheist, because I don't have a religion and I don't believe in God." Then they give a confused look on their face. My favorite is after telling them I'm an Atheist they ask me, "So, what religion is that?"

It sets my teeth on edge. It shows just how narrow a worldview it is possible for an individual to have.

What I have realized, though, is that the people who mostly believe this are middle-of-the-road Christians. The "luke-warm" ones, if you will. The actual fundamentalists have a much better grip on where we stand than the average American. It's strange.

they believe a man in the sky throws fireballs at earth when he is mad

they think god sent katrina to punish america for gay sex

its not any different that the same brain that processes the above two thoughts would think that everyone thinks the same self delusional reinforcing fantasy that they do,

so i just put myself in their shoes
they think there is a god
so to them god is real
so to everyone else god is real wether we believe or not

ignorance of reality and the definition of atheist: one who does not believe in god

Exasperated. You can't have a reasonable argument if your opponent insists on redefining the terms to suit himself.

It's frustrating, and really warped logic. By the same argument, there are no true believers, either.
