True and false....in fact, just a little part of the name has that meaning. Par Dieu = Oh my God...but actually, in french "oh my god" is "MON Dieu", "par dieu" is something more like " from God"

I thought "oh my God" in French was "mon Dieu." I bet de par Dieu is more like "on God's behalf." Just a guess, though, based on Spanish. Je ne parle pas francais.
