Ricky Hatton is British and a champion, Lennox Lewis was Jamaican/British/Canadian and was a champ. Nationality doesn't figure into it.

Lennox Lewis is from Great Britain.
Wladimir Klitschko is from The Ukraine
Felix Trinidad is from Puerto Rico
Julio Cesar Chavez is from Mexico
Max Schmeling is from Germany

This is a VERY SHORT list of professional boxers who are foreigners that also became boxing champions in various weight classes, past and present. You may be a good boxer, but you might still be rough around the edges. It may not be nationality, but individual skill and talent level.

Rocky, as mad as it may make you, was realistically written by those who have been in the boxing pits. And if you remember ... Rocky doesn't win in the first fight against Apollo Creed. Hell, some of my friends tell me that I should see Cinderella Man (based on the true story of boxer James Braddock). Besides, movies are movies for a reason ... reality is a different story altogether.

You do not need to be an American to win championships, look at lennox lewis from england for example. What you do need is a great trainer, talent, a killer instinct, a promoter, and all the other things the best have. Perhaps fighting in local events with news coverage and building up a resume of impressive wins will help.
Keep at it, if you're good enough and keep winning, sooner or later you will get a shot. Maybe you should try contacting boxing promoters in the US by email, and send pictures and your history--who knows?

A lot of Mexican Nationals hold titles, all by the way the Heavyweight Champ is from the Ukraine. The training in the United States seem to be better.

Of course not. It just so happens that few nationalities have big bodies like the Americans so they usually figure in the heavier weight divisions. But look at the lighter weight divisions and you will see a variety of nationalities as champions: South Americans, Asians, Africans, etc.

Anyone can win a boxing title. Get yourself a good trainer and train very hard. Make it your passion.
