On flowers: I always dreamed of having white tulips. When I started looking at prices I got scared. My wedding is in July so that was just out of the question. Then I found this place online that ships tulips from the Netherlands. They were also so much cheaper than anywhere else. www.growingtulips.com

Keep it small and intimate, immediate families only sort of thing. Don't think you have to invite everyone to it. Don't get caught up in the moment but make a list of what you want and how much you have to spend and stick to it.
All you need for a wedding is a registered venue (which you say you have), a registrar and the marriage licence. Anything on top of that is extras.
If you want bridesmaids dresses or gents suits try Oxfam Weddings, great clothes at bargain prices plus you help a worthy cause.
Friends of mine got married for virtually nothing, she borrowed the dress, he wore his best suit, they were married by a registrar in a hotel with just their families. All had a great time and it was special for it's intimacy. Much better than his sisters mega thousand pound bash with fireworks and everything.
And you want to aim for inexpensive rather than cheap.

I made my invites, place settings, friends did the decor, I made the table markers, crafted my own cake topper and head table decor from those cool lucite snowmen you can get at Christmas time...used blue and white twinkle lights, had a friend who happens to be a dj do the music, hired an up and coming photographer to save money, only used her for the prep and ceremony, had party cameras on the guest tables for reception shots that I later scrapbooked, (they were perfect!!) used 4 wick candles in my colors for table center pieces rather than flowers and held the wedding and reception in the same room at the local American Legion (family members moved tables after the ceremony while we got photos taken). I saved on everything and as a result could afford a nicer gown than I originally thought.....also did the food buffet style, and with a noon wedding, we had a lunch reception with sandwiches from the local grocer on trays along with sides that were home made by my family. It was a dry reception with sparkling cider for the toast. All told we only spent around 2K for EVERYTHING, if that. Our rings cost more than the wedding, which is fitting since we'll wear them til we die.
I am sure doing all of this may not be possible for everyone, but if your goal is to be married to this person you love so dearly, not in having the biggest most elaborate wedding in town, then it can certainly be done on the cheap!!
Best Wishes!
Michele

Be a DIY bride... Do the rest yourself. There are templates for invitations online ( web address below), go to your local market to find good art supplies, get family and frineds to help with making decorations for the reception, if you have a friend who can bake ask them to make your cake as a wedding gift, use silk flowers instead of real ones and hand tie your own bouquets, use candles on the tables, if you don't have the money for the photos put cameras on the tables and let your guests take your pics. There are many more ideas out there all you have to do is search the web. Good luck!

If you have the venue, meal, and dress, you've already got the 3 most expensive parts of any wedding celebration. The only other particularly expensive thing is flowers (try grocery store florists and assembling things yourself to save money) and photographer (find a friend to do it).

The first step is to decide what you can spend then stay in those boundaries. Where there is a will there is a way,, Make your wedding just yours. Don't get caught up in society's view of proper,, do something original that expresses your's and your mate to be's lives and it will be the envy and happy of all who attend. The trick to doing it on the cheap is doing it your way confidently.

You seem to have the real big exspenses covered already, so thats good! Im getting my family and friends involved to keep the other costs of my big day down! My cousin's doing the photos (Saving us £100), my boss is doing my flowers (free, as a wedding present) and my mates making my cake (again, free as a present). Now you might not know people direct who could provide these sorts of services but Im sure if you asked friends and family they could give you recommendations. While you may not be as lucky as myself and get things for free, Im sure youd get a family & friends discount. Good luck!

1) Have a friend take pics/or video
2) Get your friends involved:
Bake a cake
Hire a high school band or CD's
Have family member be the MC....
Buy a white and black caps, write on them bride and groom
Go to a flea market and buy artifical flowers
Men wear suits
Ladies: beg, borrow or steal, lol bridesmaids dresses that suit them(usually you can't reuse a bridesmaid dress) I did this
Have all you friends involved in the wedding preparations, saves money, and it would be their gift to you......
Print out invitations on the computer
Buy white plain tennis shoes and decorate them with white flowers and lace,if dress is long enough
google: weddings on a budget

the next thing i would splurge on is the photographer. trust me, you don't want crappy pictures. have the bridemaids buy their own dress. it doesn't have to be a "bridesmaid" dress. as long as they are wearing nice dresses and they are the same color, it will look fine. my bridesmaids were in black dresses that they had hanging in their closets, the looked good because they were comfortable. favors? buy some bags of "Hugs" "kisses" "treasures" and "promises" and use tulle to wrap them, the poem goes: hugs, kisses, promises to treasure, thank you for being here for the start of our forever"
decorations? tulle and candles will be your best friend. let us know what else you need help with.
