How do I know if I have an abscess on my arm?

An abscess is a tender, easily pressed mass generally surrounded by a colored area from pink to deep red. The middle of an abscess is full of pus and debris.

Painful and warm to touch, abscesses can show up any place on your body. The most common sites are in your armpits (axillae), areas around your anus and vagina (Bartholin gland abscess), the base of your spine (pilonidal abscess), around a tooth (dental abscess), and in your groin. Inflammation around a hair follicle can also lead to the formation of an abscess, which is called a boil (furuncle).

Unlike other infections, antibiotics alone will not cure an abscess. In general an abscess must open and drain in order for it to improve. Sometimes draining occurs on its own, but generally it must be opened by a doctor in a procedure called incision and drainage.

Just by your description it doesn't sound like an abscess. Abscesses are extremely painful and you can not bare to wear long sleeved shirts or touch it in anyway. When was the last time you saw your doctor? He or she may be able to tell you what that red spot is or your doctor may recommend you to see a dermotologist. Dermotologist's deal with the skin and skin disorders. Are there any red lines coming from your red spot on your arm? Are there any other symptoms? Make an appointment to see your doctor ASAP. It's never a bad idea to see your doctor when something like this crops up.

Red spot that does not hurt is not abscess. An " abscess" is when U vave Tumor(swelling)Rubor(redness) and Dolor(pain)

First it would be large and bloody painfull, but to really find out go to see your doc.
