Actually when a friend INTENTIONALLY hurts you without cause, that is not meaning well --- it's a break in the bonds of trust and loyalty.
If a enemy puts his hand around your shoulder and says "lets no longer be at odds with each other" now that is a good thing --- providing that he sincerely means it and over time proves himself.

Its from proverbs but been reworded.

Pro 27:5 Open rebuke is better than secret love.
Pro 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

It means a true friend may hurt you for the purpose of good. But an enemy may pamper you in order to deceive.

well it refers 2 the fact that they may have a knife and is ready 2 stab u in the back.the knife can be words or it can actually mean a weapon but either way its meant that an enemy is an enemy and should never be trusted.

but also remember keep ur friends close and ur enemies closer.this means that if u know what ur enemy is doing then u can better prepare urself.whether they be friends or enemies its best 2 keep ur own confidence, the less u put out their the less that can be used against u later.

it means, friends do things that can hurt but are generally well intentioned, an enemy showing you empathy is really just getting ready to stab you in the back....that saying goes hand in hand with "keep your friends close.. and your enemys closer"

Well because a friend wouldn't hurt you physically. Your friend may hurt your feelings by not saying what you want them to say or by not agreeing with you. A stranger putting his hand around your shoulder is going to hurt you physically.

yup. It's like the saying "keep your friends close and your enemies closer".

In your saying it means that a true friend's intentions are always good, even when they mess up. When your enemy "cuddles up" to you, they're generally setting you up for a nasty fall.

Hope this helps

I have no idea. I think it means that a friend can make mistakes because and learn from it because they care for you, but an enemy can't. just a guess. Who did you quote this from?

Yes, it means a true friend will tell you what you need to hear not what you want to hear but be cautious when an enemy tells you what you want to hear theres underlying motives.

Yes. It's saying that sometimes we hurt the ones we love, but no one else better do it or that same friend who hurt you will kill the stranger for doing the same.
