I have a dog that is maybe part Husky, part Lab, part Shepard.
Unfortunatley, I adopted her and no one knows for sure. We got her when she was 3 mos old and she was quite needy and constantly wanted attention. She constantly cries loudly when outside by herself or even if she's inside with everyone, but we are too busy to pet her every second of the day. We eventually got another puppy for her to play with when she was a year old. She did really well with a constant companion, but this new dog was a problem and hard to train. We ended up having to give him to a friend when we moved. Now the annoying loud crying has started all over again! I'm certain that any day now, a neighbor might call Animal Control claiming I mistreat her!! Someone help!!!!!

By the way, she is now a little over 2 years old.

you could try ignoring here because she associated her crying to you petting here. so, she thought if she cried more, she will get more attention from you. praise her, when she do something you like so, she will know which behavior you want.

Wow..I adopted a lab/walker hound mix at 3 months also...and she too was a whiner/cryer. She is two now also, and it has taken alot of patience, but she is much less verbal now than she used to be. The first thing I have had to do with her is NOT to give her attention when she is being verbal...it only rewards her to make noise to get attention. I also crate trained her, which gave her a sense of security once she adapted to it. She is a very needy dog still,as far as attention goes, but I only give her attention when she is NOT demanding it from me. I had to be the dominant person for her, and once it clicked that her rewards came when she was quiet and undemanding...it started to improve. A companion may help your dog still, but you just need to find one that is not a problem. A vet check may help if you think there is a medical issue or a vitamin deficiency. I had to really work with my dog, making sure she had alot of exercise, and that she did have quality time with me, at my choice though. I knew if I didn't keep her, she would never be able to find a new home with her issues... but she is much better now..and continues to progress.

If you are interested in another dog, try adopting one that's already house broken and trained but likes other dogs and people. Also, try walking next door and chatting with the neighbors. First, find out if they can even hear, then explain the issue. You might also try some toys (like a stuffed animal or even one that talks when you push it's paw or something), maybe the blanket idea would work.

your dog is lonely and needs another play mate or try to spend as much time with the dog as you can. Take the dog out to the park a lot or for walks for a couple of hours and not just to use the bathroom. a pet is just like having a child if the attention is not there the child start to cause problems and that is what your child is doing

Huskies are VERY active breeds t hey need a TON of exercise. not just long walks, but long RUNS!!!!
maybe another companion for her? or Obedience lessons to keep her mind a bit happier.. or just keep her inside more
dont give her attention when she cries - dont say "NO" because even that is a reward
you can give her a squirt with a hose.. no talking - just squirt... eventually you can pick up the hose and she will shut up
(or squirt bottle)

failing that you can try the CITRONELLA collars - not the electric zapping ones which are cruel

allot of people would say your dog has a problem it doesn't, you have a problem and that is you have taught your dog that the behavior its displaying is not wanted. you must make her understand that she should not yelp or cry all day by using something as simple as a water gun or a soda can with rocksin it toss in her direction (dont hit the dog) when she yelps squirt her and say no very sharply and don't pet her by petting her you have taught her that if she cries you will come. its not a hard problem to fix just have to break the notion that your dog is a child and whining means she needs something.

You need to take her for at least an hour walk a day. Make sure when you walk her that you are in control, not her. She should walk beside you or behind you. Never in front. Any time that she starts to cry, just say no. firm and calm. You need to become the pack leader.

Try giving her a blanket or towel or something that has your smell on it....That seems to calm new puppies down, but being that she's 2 it may or may not work - good luck...
