The phrase "OH MY GOD" is a generic phrase. Like "get me a Kleenax" means that you want a facial tissue. There are more to words than the sounds which come out of our mouths. There are meanings behind them. We can't just look at the words one uses and expect to understand that person, we need to take the time to examine the meaning behind them. It is interesting that Christians who are all the time explaining the bible by saying that something isn't to be taken literally (The number of people who will be admitted to Heaven), are sometimes the worst at looking at the greater meaning behind what someone says.
By the way, what does it mean when a believer says "OH MY GOD" during sex? While I may use the phrase from time to time, I don't think I could explain it to anyone if they wanted to know what I meant or how the meaning would connect to the words.

It's a fair point that it makes very little sense for a Christian to utter such a thing. The only time God and sex should be mentioned in the same sentence by a "good" Christian is when repenting for one's own sins, or else condemning someone else's. Despite the fact that God came up with the idea of sexual reproduction (one can only assume this is so, since Adam & Eve had genitals), it seems the practice carries "sinful" undertones even among couples of the proper gender who have been married according to the proper rituals. Hence Original Sin is passed to each new generation at the moment of conception.
So if a married, God-fearing Christian is performing this sacred yet dirty act with his lawfully-wedded wife (for the exclusive purpose of reproduction, needless to say), should their use of this phrase be interpreted as "giving thanks" for the inherently sinful gift which they are about to receive? Or are they merely violating the 3rd Commandment and taking the Lord's name in vain?

When I used to do that, my ex would say 'Yes?' HaHa-made me laugh...
seriously, it really doesn't matter what mindless ramble comes out during a moment like that (did you know 'orgasm' in French means 'mini-death?), I would suppose whatever's been programmed into your brain (can anyone say brain-washing?), is what someone will say at a time of intense emotion and lack of thought...But, when all has been said and done, what is, is (sorry, Christians).

It is so because even athiests think of God more than than than God Believers as their job is to negate God & to do so they take the name of God more frequently.

i come to conclusion that if we happy (like having sex) we might said oh my god, and so if we are scared, in a wrecked ship we also said oh god.
so god is just expression from our mind.
