They probably dislike their job. When this occurs, their dissatisfaction towards their own job manifests into how they interact with others while working.

when you're working customer service, you must treat people the way you want to be treated. you're supposed to be nice and polite. I too work with the public. I treat all people the same. I've only had one complaint, and that's because the old man doesn't understand that he's not the only one to bring prescriptions in to be filled. he was very rude and cussed me out. i just told him that I didn't have to put up with his attitude. Be polite n nice, but don't take any crap off anyone.

i have worked in 3 different 5 star hotels behind reception and night portering over 6 years i have a thousand stories about rude people (especially famous ones) . night shift at these hotels are crazy every night and i find the most obscenely rudest people when its after midnight and they've had a few to drink ... from having a gun pointed at me , to stopping fights between customers and kitchen chefs and people having sex in the lobby.... i think i have seen it all , i often found it hard to deal with considering some of my experiences and developed a certain attitude towards "SOME" PEOPLE" so the answer to your question is that after a certain time in the same job you will eventually develop a certain attitude with certain people... and as for horrible customers, they feel they are always above certain people because after all they are paying your wages

I totally agree!
If you don't have the patience's to deal with people & their problems, don't work with them!
I believe those kind of people work those jobs, because they need an outlet to release their anger & they have found that they can be nasty to strangers with little reprocussion.

I suspect it's some sort of revenge. You are right, they shouldn't be rude, but they are rude anyways. Usually, those people will mature and grow out of it.
