you're trying to solve for j, so you do this:

3j-13=11+2j

(3j-2j) - 13 = 11+ (2j-2j)

(1j) - 13 = 11 + 0

j - 13 = 11

j = 11 + 13

j= 24 (answer "B")

well...
you add 13 to both side

3j-13+13= 11+2j+13
then you sub. 2j from both sides

3j-2j=24+2j-2j
then... it's
j= 24

CHECK!!!!
3j-13=11+2j
3(24)-13=11+2(24)
72-13=11+48
59=59

the check worked so the answer is b. 24

the answer is 24.

take 2j to the left side. so left side becomes 1j. 13 goes to the other side and becomes 24.
