I know when I went to college (1981), we were able to smoke in the halls. Never the classrooms when I went.
I can't imagine doing that now!!

My high school had a smoking section, but it is gone now. I was in the class of '85 and I remember my friends going there between classes and at lunch. You were required to get permission from a parent or guardian (unless you were 18) and you would be issued a "pass" for the smoking area. There was always a teacher at the door to check passes (but there were some teachers who wouldn't check). Apparently, they did away with the smoking section shortly after my senior year because it doesn't exist anymore.

Yes , in high school there was a specified smoking area for us smokers. Seems sort of strange now, but we could go there at lunch or between classes, right on the school campus, and smoke. They had an ashtray and chairs there for us and it was just part of our daily lives. We didn't even have to have permission from our parents, no permission slip..nothing.

I remeber when it was allowed in common areas not classrooms and that was the late 80's high school and early 90's on University campuses

Back in my hometown in the 70's and early 80's when my siblings were in high school there were specific smoking areas outside at the high school. By the time I had gotten into high school they had banned smoking (late 80's early 90's). So yes it was allowed at one time.

My high school had an enclosed smoking area. But you have to have a permission slip from your parents. That was mid 90's.

yes at one time it was allowed but now the no smoking ban is here and you can't smoke in them it was allowed in high schools as well and some elementary schools as well

When I was in highschool, I graduated in 1989, there was a smoking loung in school.

It is not. But I know an university in Bandung, Indonesia, who has its own smoking room. And also one university in Jakarta, Indonesia.

when my mom went to school, in 1980, there was a "bull pen" that people could go into and smoke all they want, they took it out in 1984, but they did exist!

Yes in the university.
Do not know in other schools, only the university I went to.
