I am asking because i think if more people asked about other religions instead of making assumptions wouldnt we realise how much were alike?and should we realy hate each other based on what religion they are?And why not explain your religion instead of assuming that people hate you for it.

Ask. I'm a non-practicing pagan from a Irish Catholic/Buddhist family. It would save ALOT of confusion.

I would rather people ask because too many make assumptions about it. No, we shouldn't hate each other because of religion. The only time the hate comes into play is when they start talking smack about MY religion because their Holy Book written by MEN says I'm evil, yet they make no effort to even ask about it before they make assumptions. Remember, when you assume, you make an A*S out of U and ME.

I don't think it would make a difference either way. A lot of people I know who claim to have religion..... they don't even know what their religion stands for. I'm an atheist and know more about what the Bible says than most of my Christian friends. Anyway, people who hate each other because of religious beliefs are too backwards and ignorant to benefit from asking questions.

I absolutely agree! I wish people were more open to ask and to answer questions about their religion. When I was in college, I met a girl who was Sikh. It took me a long time to get up the courage to ask her about her religion. When I did, she was more than happy to explain things to me. She was impressed that I cared enough to ask! I think most people would be glad to answer questions about what they believe. After all, if it's their religion, they feel strongly about it and are "proud" of what they believe. I guess most of us don't ask because we're afraid of offending the person, which just seems silly. I know I'd want people to ask me about my religion before making wrong assumptions!

You must be a kind person because you are correct, Do not be ashamed to say what your religion is. If you are afraid or ashamed then you have no salt and you have no worth. I think it is a part of being real. Practice your religion it may help when you least expect it. Being proud of what you have knowledge of is fine.the only thing we have that will last is our knowledge of his greatness, let your religion sustatin you always and be proud to share the good news. Have a great life live proud and obey !

well hun as a muslim i feel the same way but here is the problem when i explain something about my religion some people can still be cruel and KEEP ASSUMING what ever about my religion. as soon as i point one thing out to them they will attack me with something else and make up lies against it. this is from my aspect. then when i show them that something is culture wise and not from the religion they still just keep running their mouth. but i agree with you when it comes to people should explain their religion. if you do that and some one still hates you for the religion what is one to do? we can not force people to act civil to us when they choose not to accept the answers,

Good questions.

I would rather have people ask me about my religion and see how much they are alike.

Dr Joseph Campbell studied all the religions and wrote many books on how they all have similar stories .

You are sooooo right! Alot can be learned by asking questions in the correct way. I wish more people thought the way you do. The world would be a better place.

Sister, I agree that if we all spent more time discussing (and thinking about) religion and our relationship with God, this world would be a much better place !

In fact, if we could all go back to The Bible and Jesus' teachings, and dismiss all of the differences in the "laws of man" which pretend to be "God's Holy Commandments", we would please our heavenly father very much. God bless you!
