I asked a ligimate question and gave prove as to why I say the Bible has been changed to suite the christian religion. This specific passage I took as an example came from Isaiah 9, the same passage christians use to claim Jesus is God. I compared it to the Torah version and it clearly shows that the scripture (Bible) has been "modified".

How come no Christian could give me a response to about the Bible being correct and not tampered with?

Could it be because a lot of people really aren't that interested in getting involved in a confrontational dialogue? There are a lot of questions at YA that are interesting and non-confrontational, and there's only so much time to answer questions. I (usually) prefer to answer more interesting and non-confrontational ones... if for no reason other than that at least that way I stand a chance of scoring a best answer once in a while. :-)

What is the difference in saying, "The house on the corner is big," or, "There is a big house on the corner of 5th and Market"? and if there is a difference, could the torah not have been modified. What makes all other beliefs so right, and Christianity be flawed or tampered with or wrong? You are a person who is just an example of what the Bible talks about when Jesus said, "Their hearts have grown waxed. They have eyes that see not, and ears that hear not." Stop questioning the word of God, or critiquing it and making excuses not to obey God.

Here's how the Jewish Publication Society translates that passage.

(9:5) For a child is born unto us, a son is given unto us; and the government is upon his shoulder; and his name is called Pele- joez-el-gibbor-Abi-ad-sar-shalom; Isaiah 9:6

So what's your point? This is a prophetic passage. It could be paraphrased like this "In the future we shall say 'For a child is born unto us, a son is given unto us; and the government is upon his shoulder; and his name is called Pele- joez-el-gibbor-Abi-ad-sar-shalom; '

So the KJV says "shall be" instead of "is" on his shoulder and "his name shall be" instead of "his name is."

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Does that mean that when Isaiah made this prophecy that this child was already born? I don't think so. Look, no translation is going to be perfect because it's a translation. But as long as the essential meaning is conveyed, what's the problem?

It's like if you were at a United Nations assembly and a King from a foreign land gave a speech and you had to rely upon what a translator was telling you was being said only in English. You might miss some of the subtle nuances of what was being said but you would still understand what the King was trying to get across and you would still know that you had heard from a King right?

I responded to your argument. I thought, as did others, that you did not prove your point at all. Although the versions differed they did say the same thing.

You pose these "questions" under the guise that you want to know the truth and you want others to have an open mind. You seem to be the one not interested in having an open mind. You have made up your mind about this and no argument to the contrary is going to change it.

Therefore, all you are doing is providing a way for people to get their 2 points.

I totally believe the bible has been tampered with. Many things have been altered to suit different religions over the centuries. Would you believe that Christmas was once a Roman Pagan festival? One of the early Christian emporers changed it to a Christian holiday, but had to keep the celebration and festical, or otherwise cause riots.

Being a Christian does not mean that I have to try and save you, that is between you and God. Unlike some Christians and some doubters I know that the bible was written by MAN about Christianity and God. I use it as a guide to get closer to GOD and to learn. It is like a textbook to me so I don't sweat the small stuff>

I am glad to see that you are reading the bible!

You can trust the Bible and what it teaches, God has given us freedom of choice and there is enough deception for you not to believe the Bible as there is truth for you to believe it. It all boils down to what you choose to believe. But in the end the truth will remain and it is better to safe in the Lord than to be sorry.

Maybe no one is that concerned.
Religion is all in how you ingterpret it. One statement made to you could be offensive, and yet totally reasonable to me.
As long as people have something to keep them distracted from the world and it's insanity, maybe that's a good thing.
Just remember that there are many types of "Christians" out there. As long as the idea is the same, who is to judge?

the Bible wasnt written in English originally.. it was translated, and with any translation slight changes and errors are always expected.
Then there is the infamous "KING JAMES VERSION" the word VERSION should be enough to PROVE it wasnt orignal...its like if you write a song and somebody else covers it - they have changed it and it is their "version"

Jesus isnt God, he is mearly a prophet - or even the Son of God... same like Budda and others before, and Mohammud after

Most Christians can not answer that question. You will not shatter anyone's faith either.
For questions this complex-you should go to an apologetics website and ask that question. There are people there that can give you a satisfactory answer-if you are really interested.
