Boys mature slower than girls. They can't feel the need to go as early as girls.
When a child is born the nervous system isn't done yet. It's the nervous system that allows you to feel the need to go. This process isn't complete in boys until around the age of 3.
So when you tell a little boy to "let me know when you need to go" they have no idea what you're talking about.

I don't necessarily agree with that. My boy taught himself 2 weeks before he turned 2 years. He just started saying pee-pee potty and 2 weeks of taking him every 10 minutes and he didn't even need diapers at night anymore. My girl was 2 1/2, and it took alot more work, in and out of pull-ups and undies, she would want to use the potty one day and then wear diapers the next couple. My advice though is that every child is different and needs to go at their own pace. I have never seen a 20 year old walking around in diapers (thank god!!). So I don't think it's anything we really have to worry about. I know it can be very frustrating, just know your child's signs that they are ready and work with it.......Good Luck!!

Girls mature a bit faster than boys. Not to mention the fact that boys generally don't care what they are walking around with in their pants.

I don't. But we've been training our son for 8 months now, and we still have to remind him to use the potty. Good luck.

Can't really make that generalization. Some boys are really easy to train, and some girls are really hard. Boys tend to be more hyper, which makes learning difficult.

They really aren't. I've known boys trained by 2 and girls not til almost 4. I don't believe it's gender related

Boys are more immature than girls, and take longer to catch up! That was told to me even by my son's teacher.
However, sometimes if they have siblings it is supposed to be easier, since they want to imitate them.

Because our wee-wee's are fun to play with. Just strike your child and shame him about pooing his pants...this works great. By age 18, he will have killed his first dozen hitchhikers and buried them in your yard.
