Here’s to my love! O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die

This is from Romeo and Juliet, where Romeo believes that Juliet has died and is determined to see her again. He is saying this as he is about to drink poison, the apothecary is a druggist who made the poison. He is talking about how quickly he will die, and "thus with a kiss I die" means that he is dying out of love for Juliet.

Isn't this from Romeo and Juliet? He's basically toasting his love (Juliet). Speaking of the apothecary, he says-- yup this stuff works fast and finally states the last thing that he plans to do before dying is kiss Juliet...of course we all know that that kiss will wake her just seconds too late!

is this from Romeo and Juliet?

apothecary is a reference to either drugs or a druggest, thus the word poison. committing suicide by poison. the 'kiss' would either be his lips on the bottle/cup/whatever of the poison, or that the kiss of his love is like a drug that controls him to the point of feeling like he'll die, or die for his love.

Apothecary is an old word for chemist/pharmacist.

The verse is therefore:

A toast to my love;
Good pharmacist;
Your drugs are quick (presumably that is a good thing)
I presume the "kiss" reference = drinking.

Usual Shakespearean dramatic wording ... I'm surprised anyone ever got anything done :-)

Its from Romeo and Juliet (his love)

and Romeo obtained a poison from a doctor (apothecary-or pharmacist) which was to kill him since he thought Juliet had died. The poison was so potent that it could kill Romeo when he sipped a little.

is this for your english class? read your assignment :)

its one of the last scenes in romeo and juliet, when romeo finds juliet and assumes she is dead, so he drinks a poison himself, wanting to live forever with her in eternity. (the tragedy is she was only sleeping -- whoops)

romeo and juliet right?
well he just drank a really strong poison, and he's about to die and kisses juliet right before his death. (juliet faked her death before so he thought she was dead and killed himself.) Then juliet stabbed herself after Romeo died
