That doesn't make him special. 'Virgin births' have been touted throughout history for people in an attempt to give them credibility. Most of the great philosophers were said to have come from a virgin birth. Zeus once turned himself into a shower of gold to impregnate someone. Virgin birth stories stretched further back than the story of Jesus and most major religions had at least one of them.

This is where faith takes over for you. If you believe in God, then the virgin birth is not a problem.
If you do not believe in God- then it would seem impossible. However we are talking about God-not Charlie Darwin. If God could say 'let there be light' and light appeared, or 'let the waters bring forth".. and they did-then He would have no problem telling Mary, 'you are pregnant ', and it come to be.

Some people want to argue about little things that are seemingly insignificant compared to the creation of all things.
They don't want to believe in God-so they look for evidence against God and stand on it even if it is not true. Most non believers are so busy looking for something that they want to believe, that they are not paying attention to what has happened in the scientific community in the last 25 years or so. DNA experiments from the 1980's has crushed the theory that different races came up from different animals. Certain 'laws' that physicist use every day have all but killed 'big bang'. The only reason many scientist still hold on to some of these older suppositions is that the only alternative is creation-and they refuse to accept it. Not because its not possible-but because they refuse to believe in God. They are worried just how silly they are going to look if they tell the truth.

Where did you get the idea that he was born of a virgin? Did you get this information first hand or did someone else teach it to you? Through maybe the Bible? I love Jesus and respect all that he taught while here but I do not believe he is the son of God anymore than I am. I don't believe Mary was a virgin either. Think about the time when all this was going on.How much more inspiring if they can say their prophet is of a divine birth. So take your ddduuuhhhhhh and multiply it by lets say a thousand and now we are talking about how I feel.

Obviously you don't even know how they checked to see if she was a virgin or not. When a Jewish woman would into "the tent" with a Jewish man and have sex, a priest would go in (when they were done) to see if there was blood on the blanket they did it on. If there was no blood, then she wasn't a virgin. What? Did you think they had physicians back then that knew every part of the womans body?
And I have a very close friend who was technically a virgin till she gave birth to her first child. Technically, you have to break the hyman (spelling?), before you are no longer considered a virgin... in the medical field.
And in the Old Testament, in the Hebrew, the "prophecy" for this doesn't even say Virgin... it just says Young Maiden. Note: I said In Hebrew.

What proof is there that he was born from a virgin birth?

That is an old pagan belief the Christians adopted. Also the only biblical verse Christians point to confirm this (Isaiah 7) is a mistranslation. It means young maiden not virgin.

Jesus was a regular man in that his mother was human. He had her genetics and was fully human. He was still the son of God, but his divinity was surpresses.

If he had not had a virgin mother, then he could not have been called the son of God.

For those who disbelieve, there is just as more proof that mary was a virgin than proof that she was not.

I will answer your question with a simple statement :-
Before his crucification Jesus used to preach in an arid land and used to have few followers ; many disegarded him. After his crucification he was ressurected, and came back , why did he not finish his work of spreading the message of God himself and left it to some mortals with vested interest after all if he was divine no force on this planet could stop him ,he could himself spread the truth
* another thing only some of his followers saw him back resurrected
can you blame many people for disregarding him?
*Another thing Christianity spread bottom up from the slaves of the roman people to its aristocracy ( the rulers converted to save themselves from being removed from power)(historical fact)
* Buddhism spread top down (first the rulers in India accepted the new theory and after that the people copied the elite)

I just saw a video from "The Holly land Experience" which pointed this out.

Man is willing to admit that Jesus was in line to be king.
Man is willing to admit that Jesus was a good (so will even say perfect) man.
Man is willing to admit that Jesus was a sacrifice for a good cause.
BUT man is not willing to admit that Jesus was God, because that means that we have to do what He said.

In the video this was put in context with the colors in the tabernacle - purple for His royalty, white for His innocents, red for His sacrifice and purple for His divinity (He wore white before He was crucified, Herod put purple on Him, the soldiers put red on Him).

The devil is always trying to refute that Jesus is Lord and that He even existed. Even when Jesus was resurrected Satan influenced the Pharisees to say that his disciples stole his body. The delusions coming the last days will be great and we have to stand on the sure word of God - THE BIBLE
