Shampoo is just when you go into a salon and they shampoo your hair. A wet towel is I believe just when they wet your hair before cutting. It's been so long since I was in Cosmetology so I forgot for sure about the wet towel.

Actually, wet towel refers to a wet towel that was microwaved for a few seconds to warm it up. It is then placed around the head and neck to help with moisturizing and opening the pores. Afterwards they normally rinse the conditioner out with a cool water rinse to tighten scalp pores, firm hair fibers and reduce hair limpness.
