Just for frame of reference, I know the passages in Leviticus 18.22 for example, and Romans 1. But I don't think homosexuals are destroying the American family.

Please try and explain your believe how homosexuality is destroying the American family.

Something tells me people aren't going to read the details and I'm going to get a lot of people quoteing Leviticus and telling me I have to read Romans 1. Or that I need the holy spirit.

The sacred union of marriage is between a man and a woman. That is how it is supposed to be. It is completely unnatural for two people of the same sex to get married. I will never view a homosexual "marriage" as a real marriage. It is a total insult to me and all of the other people out there who are in a true and natural marriage! How dare two people who have chosen to ignore God's Word and engage in a totally unnatural relationship compare their relationship to the relationship that I have with my husband by getting "married" ? PLEASE!!!

There is a little known side to the gay personality whereby as soon as they feel they have sufficiently settled into a relationship and have acquired formal recognition for it, they lose control and sneak through the suburbs in the middle of the night, mentally transmitting "Homosexuality Waves" that modify innocent christian children's sexuality so that they too will grow up to be gay. Imagine it as a sort of immorality virus, that, left unchecked, could ravage the worldwide population. Honestly.

It reminds me of that episode of south park where everyone starts swearing and they accidentally bring on the apocalypse :)

To be honest, I always imagined that it was something to do with people being afraid that if homosexuality gained such recognition, then it would gain a higher status and a higher degree of acceptability. This could lead to two consequences:

1. That people are more likely to admit to their homosexuality, some people argue that it may even cause more homosexuality, but I personally think this is rubbish. At "worst" it would cause more people to recognise their own homosexuality, ratehr than being scared of it. Admittedly to the casual observer this would look as if it was causing more people to be gay.

2. The definition of a family as being a male/female couple raising children would be changed, since it would have to encompass same-sex relationships.

Obviously, single-parent families have already brought about a version of the latter point, but there's a somewhat larger leap needed in order to concieve of children with two mothers or two fathers. I was always a little confused by the "destroying families" argument myself, the only explanations I've ever been able to come up with are somewhat farfetched in their logic:

1. That people are worried that when they say "I have a family at home", they're worried that people might think that they're gay somehow (or at least saying such a thing will not have the same "So I'm not gay!" impact that it did before).

2. That even though the definition of Marriage or Family for some would change, for others it would not. Therefore from those people's points of view, you'd have people running round saying that they're married or have a family, when in actuality they don't.

Or something. I have a sneaking suspicion that in truth it's sensationalist, homophobic propoganda, but like you, I'm open to other explanations and have added this question to my watchlist so that I might see what they are.

Devaluing marriage? "Because if you give the same rights and tax status to gay couples the foundation of our society will crumble, it's in the bible, towards the back. Look it up"-JK I read this answer from djk15000 to what's wrong with gay marriage and I thought it was hilarious.
Practically, and I'm sorry if this is too graphic but it's the story I've heard from religious studies articles, it's because people didn't understand where babies come from for a long time. It used to be thought that semen was a baby. So anytime it wasn't put to good use(planted somewhere fertile) it was considered murder, you were creating someone with no intention of growing them. Which is why masturbation is considered a sin, too. That's mentioned in the bible as well. And the bible urges procreation pretty strongly because it was far more important then in terms of survival to have many young, strong people around taking care of the towns, villages, and tribes. More people then meant less of a burden.
I think that alot of things in the bible show a fairly advanced set of rules for best survival of the followers, not eating pork, not eating shellfish, exiling people with disease, food inspections. In my humble opinion homosexuality is a good example of that. And now it's a tradition. It has become a fundamental aversion to people. And I think the religious right really idealizes the past in a big way. And they try to recreate that idealized version of it.

While I am NOT a member of any religious right, nor have ever been, I, too, have wondered why that group of people continue to sing that same old song.
The other one that confuses me is that Gay Marriage will somehow affect Heterosexual marriage.
To answer your question, my best guess would be that if Gay Marriage becomes legal, then it would be "okay" to choose a gay lifestyle rather than sentence yourself to a life with a person of the opposite sex in the name of being "normal". Therefore if gay marriages were legal, there would be less procreation, hence less families.
If the people that share the opinion in your question would only open their minds enough to think things through, they would realize that many single gay parents may have the opportunity to marry someone of their choosing and actually reinforce the idea of a two-parent family. Adoption is also an option for gay people, just like straight people, as is serrogates.
As for the Bible passage that says something along the lines, that Man shall not lie down with man as he does women, in my opinion speaks more about bi-sexuality than homosexuality. For example, if a gay man has sex strictly with men, he isn't lying down with women in the same way.
I agree with you, and do NOT think that homosexuals will destroy families, or somehow harm heterosexual marriages. If you're gay, you're gay, and the last time I checked, in America, all citizens are equal. Now wouldn't it be nice if those right wing, religious types could remember that?

I don't know about the religious, but as a Christian I can tell you that it is not only homosexuality but ALL sin that is helping to destroy, not only America but the World. At the end it will be God who destroys the world: After all He is the one who created it . It is His. And before you get your panties out of shape God does give Everyone a chance to be saved from this destruction. Read not only Leviticus but the whole Book, but before this, Read John 3:16 then and only then while you be able to get the whole picture.

Well such a lot Protestant denomination have allowed divorce for a while in order that they can not rather petition tough middle at the area on the grounds that they could don't have anything to mention... With regard to the opposite query, it's on the grounds that there are quite a lot of levels of sins/transgressions. For illustration, mendacity is definitely much less of a sin than murdering any person. From my knowledge Protestants are in accord with Catholics after they say that the gay ACT is in opposition to nature (sin in opposition to nature, while divorce isn't). Hence, they're spurred directly to preserve the definition of marriage as among a person and a girl.

Dude, you totally need the holy spirit! Doh!

The religious right are just ignorant people that shut their mind off before they think things through. Why should they care if a few fudge packers live near them. You can bet those corn holers would have a nicer garden then the bible thumpers. Homo's aren't destroying the Am. family. They are helping it by entertaining us with some really excellent Broadway shows. (Those pole smokers can really act and sing!!!). Its the religious ignoramuses that we have to worry about. Shouldn't we worry about the people that are fanatic about what other people shove up their balloon knots? I don't really care to see two fairies kissing, but as long as it is behind closed doors, they can toss each other's salad all they want if that's what floats their boat.

I saw a hilarious act done by Lewis Black (Red, White and Screwed) the other day. I think you would find it amusing. ^_^ I would repeat it here, but seeing how things are done here, this would definitely get me thrown off. ROFL
This, like a few other things, is just another ploy of the gov't. Use something really religious people hate to take their sights off of other, more important, issues. Blame the gay people for America's family values dropping. Divorce had nothing to do with . It's amazing though, all of these people complaining about how horrible it is. America is going downhill, murder rate is up, men and women abandoning their children, abortion, etc... yet this is a "Christian Nation". Kinda puts things into perspective, doesn't it?

You need to read your Bible! Homosexuality tore my very own house apart! We had two toy poodles, named Toni and Shelly, and they were Lesbian. They would regularly show their tender love in front of company, and during family home evening. It was blasphemous. My sister loved those poodles regardless, they were the same age as her and had grown up together. My mother and father were livid with idignation anytime the missionaries were over and those two would start rooting around under eachother's tails. Well, the dogs ended up being put to sleep over it. My sister left the house and moved in with the wrong crowd. She is now the president of the United States, through some unrelated, lucky circumstances. My Mom and Dad divorced and now have no dogs, and are not allowed to visit the White House.

Is that leviticus about sodom and gomorrah? What do you think will happen if all american people would prefer to have mate of their own sex,? EXTINCTION.
but based on sociology studies, men often prefer male homosexuals because of the tight *** for penetration, although women also have this, homosexuals give more effort in pleasing the men, sexually and financially as well.
however, such practice is so abominable due to the health hazards it gives to both of them, and the homosexuals are so much in to sex that loyalty to only one partner is very rare, thus social and physical conflicts arise.

I am afraid that I can't explain how it's destroying the American family because I am not sure that it really is.
Has gayness stopped people from having heterosexual sex and forming family units? I think that it bothers the right that gay folk have come out of the last closet and said that they want to be recognized as monogamous, forming bonds, creating stable homes for themselves and maybe some kids or pets.
