Sounds like acid reflux(heartburn) to me. The salty-bitter taste sounds like it. Any chest pain especially after meals(burning pain?) or chronic cough or sore throat? Anyway, sounds like a g.i problem. If the doctors can't figure it out...off to a specialist you go! Till then try an OTC Pepcid Ac and see if that helps the acid.

I would go to a hospital if I was you. If no doctor can figure it out, it might be dangerous to your health. However, it could be a simple problem with your diet. Too much intake of iron might be the cause. Other than that, no other reasons come to mind.
