I am not familiar with the traffic laws of Australia, but I would assume that you can refuse any ticket. However, just because you refuse it, doesn't mean that's it's not valid. By refusing it, you're setting yourself up for additional fines and/or action taking by the local law enforcement.

If you disagree with the decision of the officer issuing the ticket, it's better to take it up with a judge in court, rather than with the officer on site of the situation.

if ur talking about a speeding fine or any other kind of fine issued by a policeman, then no.

if you try, they might either arrest you or just put the ticket in the window and go away.

even if u refuse it, your on record and you will recieve the ticket in the mail and if u dont pay it, you will go to court.

if you believe you did not deserve the ticket, that it was not a genuine fine, then u still take it, but you take it up with the court. you get legal advise and a pretty good explanation of why you shouldnt have recieved it

but the police in Australia dont stuff around, usually, they give a ticket on fair terms.

Unfortunately even if you refused to accept the traffic ticket, they will catch up with you (via mail). If, however, you are holidaying here from overseas and are going back soon, they won't chase you overseas.

Of course you can but by doing so you will invite a much harsher infringement even a criminal offence. Either way you will be expected to front up at court and explain and if youu loose you will have to pay costs and your sentence/fine will be more severe. Jules, Australia.

There is no way you are going to get out of this. Just pay, they can follow you anywhere (I was in Colombia and got my ticket in the mail,ha!)
