1.Research what are you getting your self in. It could be a fun project or a disaster.
2.If you decided to proceed:
a.Get a how to book.
b.Check where is the nearest soil stack. If not a straight forward hook up you may hire a professional
c.Figure out how to bring the hot and cold water in and you may need a professional.
d.Prepare the space like in removing the sheetrock assuming it is a ‘stick’ construction.
3.The easiest way is to put a prefab enclosure, but if you want to tile… then:
Consult the do-it your-self book I hope you got earlier as it would require a lot of skill.

Have fun.

Your main problem will be plumbing. I suggest you hire a licensed plumber to install the plumbing. Bringing new plumbing to any part of the house isnt easy.

You will need to install the Durarock for your walls. Also, the floor will need to be in a slight slant, so the water will drain properly. As far as the enclosure, we had ours installed in a corner of the bathroom, and our contractor installed a glass block wall for the third wall. Then we had to have the shower door custom made. The whole project cost us about 2,000 bucks. The end result was awesome.

I highly suggest you find a contractor, at least for the difficult parts, like plumbing and building the frame. You can finish the details like tiling and installing the fixtures.

Good luck

If you feel you are able to take on a project like that-good, but if you dont have confidence in yourself then you should hire a contractor. If you have nothing and you are starting from scratch you need to draw up what you want to do. Then you need to build your frame or make the enclosure. You can figure out where you want your walls. You need to remember in your measurements that you will have 1/2 inch of durarock and approx. 1/2 inch of tile. Once you get all of that figured out you need to start building your walls. Mark on the floor whare they go. you will need to fasten them to the floor somehow. I suggest maybe a two part epoxy that you can buy at home depot and it comes in a caulk tube. your bottem board is anchored to the floor(epoxy). Then you build your walls, and anchor it to the ceiling. you can screw into the rafters in the ceiling. make sure everything is square, you can do this by measuring from corner to corner of each wall. You will need to locate where you are going to tie into your water supply to your house once you figure that out you need to figure out how much pipe you need and what adapters you will need. then you run your pipe to where you want your shower. If there is already a bath you just need to run pipe from the bath connections to where you want. Once everything is square, you need to hang durarock on the inside shower side and drywall on the outside. they both come in 4 foot by 8 foot pieces. Once you hang them you need to finish the drywall. you will need some skill to do this correctly the first time. Your durarock is ready for tile. and after finishing your drywall is ready for paint. Then you have the little things to do like install faucets and grout your tile. If you need any help email my yahoo name. hope this was helpful.

First you run some pipe. Plaster the wall, add tiles and grout... then attach a head and take a shower...

Hire a general contractor. That will be the easiest unless you are very construction oriented.
