What would you say? Would you thank them for their sacrifice or tell them they were stupid for being there? In the past few years I have written many letters of support but sometimes I feel like I fall short with what I want to say.

I would tell our troops thank you for doing a job that so many people are a fraid to do!
I would tell them that they are brave for fighting a war that so many people believe is an unjust war!
I would thank their families for being unselfish and allowing there family member to fight for the rights of their country!
I would tell their children to be brave and do not be mad at the parent for having to leave!
I would thell the spouse to love and support them even though they are not home to help with the problems and continue to love and support them when they come home and they are not the same person who left!
I would tell them that it is ok to be scared!
AND;;;
Finally I would tell them to BE SAFE and come home to their families!

The soldiers are doing more than any person can ever be asked to do----Defending there country! I am so proud to be an American!

I would thank them for their duties. Why would I tell them they are stupid for being there? They didn't decide to go fight in Iraq. They are doing what they were told.
A little surprise to some of you conservatives...liberals don't hate the troops. I know you want to use that for political gain with the midterms coming up, but it's a lie. We appreciate our troops so much that we want to get them home quickly and safely. If you all are supposed to be so smart, why couldn't you figure that out? I appreciate everything the troops do for us. I come from a long line of military men, unfortunately I am not one of them...that's a regret I have to deal with on my own. Therefore, I have a tremendous amount of respect for our military. It pisses me off to no end to hear about how us Libs hate America and want us to lose the war. No one wants to lose this war, we just don't agree with why we are there. But now that we are fighting, we need to finish the job. I say God bless America and our troops!

I would thank them for their sacrifice, a small pittance of the gratitude they are owed by the whole nation. I would let them know that they have chosen the hard path of duty, honor and country, and that it is a noble path, though the cowardly would rail against them and smear and tarnish them. I would also apologize that we in our time of wearing the uniform and then of leading the country, were unable to make the world a good enough place so that their sacrifice would not be required.

And I would tell them, "God Bless You All."

1st and most importantly, a bunch of soldiers didn't get board and say hey let's go start a war so a bunch of us can get purple hearts. They were ordered to service. They don't have a choice in the matter and that is part of the Honor of service.

2nd We who have not gone to war and are not serving with them can not understand what they are going through. I think it's great you write them to show support but in ,my opinion, you have to be content knowing that whatever small measure of comfort you may give some soldier is all you can do.

Keep writing and sending care packages. Pray for their safe return and never forget how much this is costing us.

The answer is simple...Thank You for your service. The troops do not create the situation which lead to war, they are the instruments of policy. Never forget that your are free because of these wonderful people willing to make the make the ultimate sacrifice. Govement policy is another matter. If you are not happy with the war, put the blame in where it belongs. Washington D.C.

I would support them after all the majority of them do not have a choice in whether they will go or not. Even the ones that don't want to be there have to be there so it is not their fault. If you are a soldier and the president says you have to go somewhere then you have to go there no questions asked. If you do not you are perceived as a traitor and a turncoat. Who wants to hire a traitor.

My daughter just got back after 2 stints over in Kuwait and Iraq.
My son has been 3 times, and is there currently.
They need all the love and encouragement we can give them.
Thank you for your letters of support! I love people like you!!!

I think I would tell them that they are doing a great job, to keep their spirits up and that whether or not we support this war, we will always support them. When my son was in Afghanistan, he said moral was the most important thing to keep up. I for one appreciate the fact that they went to war to protect my family. And I thank each and everyone of them.

I would stress that not only do I thank them, but I would emphasize that what they are doing is 100% the right thing, and that people everywhere, here in the US, in Afghanistan, in Iraq and everywhere else will benefit from what they are doing.

The media is quick to be negative, because it is easy and we live in an instant gratification society. Nothing worth while comes easy or quickly.

I have a sister and brother-in-law that are going on their second tour in Iraq. I have my students write letters and we collect items that the troops need and send them over. I try to keep in touch and send needed items and fun things. I wish I could do more. :-)
Thanks for your question!
