Hello I have some ideas on what you can do to help you as fa as your 6 month old. If you child has any toys or any play swings put her in there and see if that helps. You must let her amuse herself and when she begins to cry let her cry for a few minutes and then take her out. You can't always hold the child.

"JUST PUT HER DOWN"

The older they get the harder it is for them to understand that us adults like to be on the computer undisturbed. I bought my daughter a play yard and that helped me get a few minutes of peace throughout the day. I try to cram as much in during naps as I could and also bought a lap top with a wireless router. I tend to use it a lot while trying to feed her at breakfast and lunch. Now that my daughter is 18 months old I can't be on the computer much with out her protesting. I usually turn on TV for her in the late afternoon so I can get on the computer for a while then. My best suggestion would be the play yard for the time being but of course, that isn't something they will stay in for long. Once they start walking, they usually hate to be confined and you will have to compromise. Good luck!

Schedule your work during her nap times.
If you are doing house work, she can sit with you while you fold laundry, play peekaboo with the towels and still be interacting with her. That sort of thing.

What kind of work do you do? Is it something that she can sit on your lap for a little while and you can read reports out loud to her? She won't understand all the jargon, but you are still giving her exposure that the printed word has meaning.

Wait till she starts walking! Then the fun reallly starts! It's good that you are trying to prepare for this before she really gets up and moving!

Schedule a certain time for just her. She is feeling neglected and wants your attention. As soon as she notices that your work won't interfere with her time, it will lighten up. Read to her, do your work during her nap time, and don't put her off. The more you put her down and put her off, the more determined she will get to get your time. Unfortunately, your schedule now needs to go around hers.

I say daycare center. Being a work at home parent you will always run the risk of distractions.
