By having close contact with an infected person. Mostly kissing.

Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) is usually associated with infections of the lips, mouth, and face. It is the most common herpes simplex virus and is usually acquired in childhood. HSV-1 often causes lesions inside the mouth such as cold sores (fever blisters) and is transmitted by contact with infected saliva. By adulthood, up to 90% of individuals will have antibodies to HSV-1.

A finger infection, called herpetic whitlow, is another form of herpes infection. It usually affects health care providers who are exposured to oral secretions during procedures. Sometimes, young children contract the disease.

I got diagnosed with herpes (type 2) about 3 yrs ago, when I was still in college and had a silly one-night stand. I understand lots of girls say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and all of a sudden I felt like I was going to have to live with the implications for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date other men again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores round her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/6tBUp everything got better.

Not only was I able to remove all traces of the hsv from my body in less than three weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This method provided the opportunity to be happy and experience real love again. Now I hope that I can help others by sharing this story.

Herpes simplex one is cold sores. Children and babies can get this by being simple kissed by an adult who has sores on or around their mouth.
