In any foreign country that you visist, whether in uniform or not, check with local custom in respect to their lost soldiers. But no, just being in uniform and visiting the dead, in general, requires no special actions.

I honestly do not know but saw a display on the State House lawn yesterday when I went downtown.It was the dead soldiers boots- hundreds representing our servicemen killed in Iraq.They are travelling all over and I saw a lot of salutes by guys in uniform.

You should remember the old saying, while in Rome do as Romans do. So, necessary protocol for the particular country must have to be observed while visiting any monument in any foreign country.

If you are in military uniform you should comform to the protocol laid out in your drill manual or other suitable publication.
