I'm palestinian christian and I got used to say greeting " salaam alaykom" in my family.
My mother and sisters are Muslims, my father and brothers are christians.. If we say "assalamu alaykum " we have to reply it " wa alaykum salaam warahmatu Allah"
I have no idea if Muslims isnt allowed to reply salaam from non-muslims.... :(

Say assalamu alaikum to every people even if he or she is your enemy, and reply it well if someone say this greeting to you eventhough he or she is non-muslims. Thats the ethic.

No of course. Quran ordered Muslim to reply any greetings no matter what the religion of the person is. Quran says: "When a (courteous) greeting is offered you, meet it with a greeting still more courteous, or (at least) of equal courtesy. Surely Allah takes account of all things."

You do not reply "assalamu alaikum." You reply "wa alaikum assalam." And yes, you do say it to non-Muslims.

The truth is "assalamu alaykom" is a greeting to describe our respects to eachothers. It a prayer and so meaningful.
This greeting is used by all of peoples here palestinian moslems or christians ...( except Jews ..: shaloom )

if a non-muslim gives a muslim the greeting we say "wa alaikum" which means peace to them.
