Hi there. I'm a Vet Assistant, so I can help you out with this one. First off, flea baths, sprays, collars and powders are very toxic and harmful to kitties - regardless of what the complanies or people on here will try to tell you. There is residue left on the cat which the cat in turn will eventually lick off - this residue is harmful to your cat, and, in some cases, can be fatal. Whatever you do - do NOT purchase flea products from a pet store. The best place to get flea treatments is at your vet. You won't have to pay for a visit to the clinic - simply go in and ask to speak to someone about flea treatments (make sure you tell then how old the kitties are). 2 good products are Revolution and Advantage - I have used both in the past with success. You definitely get what you pay for in this area - if you purchase low-quality, low-priced products at an un-knowledgeable outlet (pet stores, etc.) you cannot be guaranteed the safety and quality that you can be guaranteed at your vet's.
Oh, and one more thing, don't worry too much about fleas in the house - if you purchase a top-notch flea product from the vet, the fleas around the house will eventually die off. For the time being, though, just make sure you wash any of the kitties' bedding in hot, soapy water and vacuum well around the house - esp. under baseboards and areas like that.
Things will be fine in no time if you make that trip to the vet's office.
Cheers.

Sweetie, how old are your kittens. If they are under 8 mos. be very careful what you use..sometimes a light dusting with baking soda works. But you have to do it daily and vacuum the areas where they go..the couch and the carpet, everywhere and everyday to get the fleas and the unhatched eggs for at least 3 weeks. The fleas will continue to hatch and grow inside the vacuum bag so you have to be careful with that and empty it often (recommended after every time you vacuum). This is a home remedy and it works if you are diligent. If this is is too much work, and it is alot of work, you have no other choice than to use a flea powder. Be sure to read the directions or you could overdose and kill the kittens...read the instructions and still vacuum every day to insure you get those eggs. Good luck:)

You don't actually have to take them to see a vet, just go the vet or a your local pet store and get some flea/tick ointment.
Why try a home remedy? a commercial product will sort it out in no time and they are not expensive.
Sort it out sooner than later, because soon the fleas will be every where not just on the little kittens!!

Not sure of any but one good thing to get is Revolution. We've got that for our cats and dog last year, and all you do is put some on the animals neck between the shoulder blades, and the fleas are attracted there. One bite and they die. It's apparently one of the best flea solutions out there, and it works.
**DO NOT use collars or sprays especially if there are children in the house. Collars have powder that easily comes off onto the skin and can be harmful to you if ingested.**

Lots of remedies for fleas - I would NOT recommend flea collars though because I am seem them cause devestating results in cats.
Try Frontline - this is a prescription only medicine for Cats - only available from a vet. Nothing from a supermarket will work.

No, you need to get a flea control product such as Revolution and Advantage. To get this, you have to take kitties to the vet for a checkup first. Do it soon, or not only with the kittens be miserable and have health issues, you'll have a nice flea infestation in your home!

Only Frontline works. Have to get it from a vet clinic and there is NO home remedy for fleas. Especially DO NOT listen to whoever said to use Advantix!!! That is NOT labeled for cats and will kill them!! You need to buy something from a vet. The crap from Walmart, Petsmart etc will not work and can harm your kittens. Do not use the crap from these stores like Bio Spot, Hartz etc.

Did you remember to treat all the places where the kits hang out, too? They might be getting re-infested from bedding, furniture, etc. If your kittens have fleas, then likely your house does, too. Get a flea bomb and READ THE DIRECTIONS, then use it after you have successfully treated the fleas. Ask a vet for more info.

You can bathe them in Joy dishwashing liquid--the citus kind. Something about the citrus kills the fleas. It really works. I have done this many times with kittens to young to use chemicals or medicines on. It will also work on dogs. Just don't let the kittens get cold.

After working for a vet, the best thing I can say is, use advantage. Depending upon their age, they can handle a whole dose if 6 weeks plus, but only a few little drops if under that. I wouldn't bathe them. Trauma to them & you. Also, treat your environment. They have powders you can sprinkle in your carpet to kill fleas. Your BEST bet though is the advantage.
