My oldest bible is from the civil war. It's called a Family Bible; but basically it's a KJV with an area in front for you to write names, children, birthdays death dates, who married who, you know family history the family tree. Mine goes back about 7 or 8 generations.

LOL I have one like that too, it's gigantic!

And no, I certainly wouldn't carry it to church, if I even carry one it would be the little KJV that has no references in it ... I don't generally carry a Bible to church because they always put the words they are reading from on the screen anyway. With 2 small girls and all the accessories that go with them, it's just one less thing to carry! lol

my oldest? like, 10 yrs old hahaha.

but a friend i know has one thats been passed down thru the family, its was once in a prison and the prisoners actually re-bound it and mended/re-produced each page as it was fraying terribly, over the years it was fixed up and although fragile, is beautiful, so cared for. it has a strange metal and wooden cover, with patterns on it, and two decorative latches to close it. it is huge, like, maybe heavier than i big bowling ball, and it has soooo much info in it. its got the maps, and a commentary, and all sorts of things ive never seen before... its hundreads of years old, i love it, im like SELL IT TO ME! haha, but its sentemental, i can understand that.

The oldest one I personally have is from the late 80s, a RSV that was given to me in the beginning of fourth grade from my then-church.
