I've heard once a guy hears the phrase they become all nervous. I suppose that's because they're not looking for a real relationship, but I can't help wonder if there are any guys who actually enjoy hearing those words.

and no, I don't mean telling them that after a few dates, I mean after at least a year of a solid relationship.

I've only said it to my guy a few times, and he said he thinks he's beginning to love me too so I guess that's a good thing. But I should probably stop saying it if he doesn't say it back right? Even if he says it makes him feel good to hear it?

I know my emotions, I'm 19 and I've given this plenty of thought before allowing myself to feel it.

First I really love this question. Why? you might ask? Because it makes you think.
There are many different levels of love, one never really knows when to use those three little words. Some say love is often used and mostly misunderstood.
My take on love is that you can love anybody and everybody and you should. But you should only say it if you truly mean it.
I love my friends, I love my family and I even love myself. I love strangers and even love the woman who walked out on me after 25 years of marriage.
I love hearing I love you, no matter who says it as long as they really mean it.
Love is not only words as we all know love is an expression of emotion that should be shared. Some people do shy away when they hear someone tell them that but that is only because they do not really understand what it means.
Many think it means I am in love with you and I want you to be in love with me and no one else. But people it does not mean that. It simple really love means with all the good emotions one person can feel, I feel with you.
I am an American but does that mean I hate Canada or the French or Iraq. etc...Well no. I may not agree with a lot of people but to hate even one person in my book is wrong.
Ok so I am old and I ramble on a bit and to get to the question asked. I love hearing the words I love you and I love telling others I love them. I would hug the entire planet if I could to show how much I care.

I would enjoy hearing those words. (BTW, I am a guy) It conveys a whole world of meaning in only three words. It covers all those doubts that one has and gives the guy the opportunity to say one of the hardest phrases in history besides I'm Sorry. " I love you" This allows both people to experience the amazing feeling that only love can give and cannot be described until you try it for yourself.

yes guys do liked to be told that but u might want to make sure that they love this person back cause if not theirs kinda like a feeling of nervous twitchy scared emotions becuz of the fact that if they dont love this person it might be a bit wierd at the time some will learn to live with it and some will run for their lives in a couple of minutes after hearing that. :)

How old are you??? I think love is an emotion that is so powerful that when you go to sleep at night you have no other thoughts other than the one you love. When she is hurt, yo feel hurt. When shes feeling pain, you feel pain. When she is happy, so are you. That moment of childbirth. Kids say I love you and think they are saying something which captures the essence of a real relationship, wrong. When you get older, you'll really know that overwhelming feeling.

Real love is giving someone the power to break your heart but trusting them not to. No wonder it's scary for him. Most likely his ex did quite a number on him and he's having a hard time with trusting you with the POWER to break his heart. That doesn't mean he doesn't trust you, but he's very protective of his heart. You're blessed that you're with someone who doesn't just say it back as though it doesn't mean anything at all. Don't rush him or else you'll both wind up cheated out of something amazing.
