I have MS and it causes excessive sweating whenever my body temperature rises. If i take a warm shower, a fast walk to the bus stop or run a fever, i'll be soaking in sweat - so i can certainly sympathize with you.

I have found that the best way to control it is to keep key areas of your body cool. I use a cooling vest that works wonderfully. I also have cooling scarves, neckties, wrist wraps and even bra inserts that you soak in cool water. The material inside the apparel holds the cool water but the material dries quickly so it's not "wet" when you wear it.

Sharper Image has a cooling "fan" that you wear on your neck that cools a spot at the base of your brain and helps keep the rest of your body cool in the heat. (it also has a heat setting and can be used in the winter if your going to be outside in the cold for any length of time - it works great).

I've found that keeping my neck, wrist and feet cool will keep me from sweating as bad as usual. I also use antiperspirant and powder liberally on the areas that sweat the most and i wear cool, loose fitting clothing such as cotton summer dresses and sandals. For a guy i guess that would mean possibly lose fitting shorts and t-shirt ...?
Wearing the cooling vest, i can even take long trips in my non air-conditioned car on summer days :) quite a feat!

I have also been reading some medical articles lately on botox injections that will prohibit sweating. The effects only last a few weeks to months and then have to be repeated. A costly solution - but one well worth it in my opinion if it works as well (and is as safe) as the clinical trials show. I couldn't afford it but would certainly take advantage of it if i could. It's no fun to constantly have sweat dripping from your face and running into your eyes. Not to mention constantly needing to change clothes and shower.

It's embarrassing and uncomfortable to sweat profusely all the time. The best way not to is to just stay as cool as possible. When it's hot - slow down and takes things in stride. And you can use any number of the cooling products on the market. Many don't even look like obvious medical aides. Do a web search for cooling products and you will find a multitude of information. That is where i found my Steele vest that i wear throughout the summer. It allows me to get out and do things i wouldn't be able to otherwise ... i only have to walk out into a 80 degree day when the sun is shining and i'm soaked with sweat from head to toe. But the cooling apparel allows me to get out there and have some fun outside during the summer without having to worry about always having a change of clothes or needing a shower because of the excessive sweat.
