Who said you are "Required" to park head in?

The way most of the parking lots are planned are for vertical parking the places are placed side by side and at a slight angle.
Which makes it easy to pull in and easy to back the car out and in the car backing out the cars back up lights come on alerting other motorists that a parking space is about to be vacated.

You're not required...but its easier to park head in between two cars then the other way around.

they don't....most ppl do though. In Ireland if the parking place leads onto a road then its actually illegal to park head in because there's a greater chance of an accident as you reverse onto the road (its rarely enforced though)

i work at a hospital that asks you to park inwards because exhaust fumes go into the open office windows maybe that's the reason you have been asked to do that
