You know, this is exactly what i tell my one friend and sister who only want to have one child! I've told them many of times that their child will get lonely and will wish for another brother or sister! I feel so sorry for you!! Please just try make lots of great friends and have fun with them! Don't you have cousins who can protect you and stand up for you? If its not too late, could you maybe speak to your parents about how you're feeling and ask for a brother or sister? I know they will be younger than you but that's still cool!

I am an only child and it was very lonely when my mother passed away. My father is alive, but has loss most of his memory so he doesn't remember birthdays or any special events or who I am on a day-to-day basis since I have to call him. You do start to feel like an orphan, but I have "adopted" close friends that I feel would protect and standby me in a pinch. I appreciate all the things I could do when I was a child since my parents didn't have to share everything between me and other siblings... and I have had friends who have loss siblings so now they are also only children. As the song says, "We all die alone."

I have a friend who is an only child... she was SPOILED ROTTEN by two doting parents.
One of our group from a LARGE FAMILY... is constantly telling her how much she missed by having lots of BROTHERS and SISTERS... she...in her 50's now mind you... come back with ... YEAH... but the un-diluted love and attention I got from my parents more then made up for it... the rest came from FRIENDS.
So yeah... I guess it can be lonely. But it can be good too... especially if you a brother or sister who is BAD TO YOU or a drain on the family.

There are ups and downs of having siblings. You don't have siblings so you don't understand the dark side of having siblings. Yes, they can protect you, but they can also give you a hard time. You can get in trouble because of them. Your parents can blame you for their mistakes. Also, you don't have as much space and privacy as you do now when you have siblings. Your parents can pressure you to be exactly like them when you want to be yourself. It is a pain to have to be a certain way because of someone else. Your parents should think of you as yourself and treat you like yourself and expect you to be others.
You are not lonely if you have friends and invite them over or maybe you can go over to their house.

It is natureal to feel that way but you have to open up and make friends who might even be more than a sister and a brother to you

Lots of people who have siblings wish they were the only child. It can be so hard sometimes with sibling rivalry and favoritism. Some would say you are blessed.

Siblings arent that much fun. They torment you and set you up to get in trouble and when you fight back you are in trouble again. They steal your stuff and mess up your things. I adore my brother but still cant stand my sister and we are grown.
