Islam was always there. Abraham and the other Prophets were Muslims. Eid was celebrated after Ismails and Abrahams time and they used to pray but the ways weren't established until Muhammad recieved the Quraan. However, all the prophets prayed and one of the reasons that Prayer was made compulsory was because of 5 different prophets. Like Adam prayed, joseph and other prophets. It also says in the Quraan that Abraham was Muslim and so were the others and their followers as they followed the way of Abraham. It was due to man changing the origanil scriptures, that other religions developed, and the Quraan is the book that hasn't and will never change. Muhammad was the last prophet sent to "clear things up". Muhammad is descended from the line of Abraham.

Muhammed(peace be upon him) did not start Islam. Islam means the complete and total worship to God. To worship Him and Him alone. This has been the message from the beginning creation. Each Prophet was sent with rules for that time. So they followed the laws that were handed down by God at that time. Muhammed was the last Prophet and was sent with the last book and last rules till Judgment day.

Many Islamic preachings were known before Muhammed, including pilgrimage (hajj), Omra, prayers, Eid, and Ramadan. However, Muhammed made some changes to the way they were preached.

well Islam was not founded by the PROPHET Mohammad " you see a prophet is : A person who speaks by divine inspiration or as the interpreter through whom the will of a god is expressed. " he does not create the religion he just ask people to join and convince them why they should do so , and yes we follow all the laws set by god " Allah " and there is five main laws of Islam that are called the five Pilgrims of Islam, before Mohammad was Born there was nothing called Islam and and there was no Muslims , there were Jews and Christians

of course no ,
Islam has started with Muhammad ,
before him , people was , Jews , Christians and those who worship rocks and statues ,
Muhammad's message was an extension of the christian , like the christain was an extension of Jewish ,
when Muhammad came , his message - that wasn't exist before , but there is some similarity between christian and Jewish in basics only , and not in way of worshiping- told every people what ever their religions to follow him , and he did some miracles in order that people can believe him , - like Moses did and split the sea , and the Christ did and make the dead alive and the blind can see- ,
enough.
for any questions , I'm ready .
regards ,

Arabs- are the descandents of Ishmael, the son of Abraham, the half brother of Isaac. They all shared the Jewish history and experience. Islam's Al Quran is the same as Christian's bible (old testament) and Jewish's Torah.

They are not called "Muslims" until Muhammad came.

We Believe all the prophets were Muslim, in that they were Submitters to Allah (Muslim).

However, Those acts of worship only came with the Prophethood of Muhammad. but that does not mean that God didnt perscribe things such as fasting, etc to nations before.

Wallahu ta'ala alem (and Allah Allimighty knows best)

Islam means submission, in the Quran Ibrahim was asked by God to submit (become a Muslim) Ibrahim answered I submitted (became a Muslim) to the Lord of all creatures. All prophets were Muslims by this meaning.
The holy Quran: 2:130-131
And who turns away from the religion of Ibrahim but such as debase their souls with folly? Him We chose and rendered pure in this world: and he will be in the Hereafter in the ranks of the Righteous.
Behold! his Lord said to him: "Bow (thy will to Me):" he said: "I bow (my will) to the Lord and Cherisher of the Universe."

the idea of islam (believing in one god only) was around before islam.like the early christians and jews believed in one god.but when the jews and christians deviated from this belief allah sent down the quran so that there would be no more corrupution with the belief system.
