I think that watching paintball is great. You can watch all the action without getting shot yourself. You can also pick up some great tactical moves from the players that you are watching.

Being an avid player myself, I am sad to say watching paintball on TV is boring. It is unfortunate that better camera angles and editing is lacking in most TV programs and videos.
Unlike ballgames where one can focus on a particular item, i.e. the ball, with paintball it is pretty much don't-blink-or-you'll miss-it. You see 3 or 7 guys(or gals) do an initial sprint for their covers (bunkers) of choice, then its pretty much bobbing and pointing of their guns (markers). And of course you hear the usual staccato burps of their guns. Then there will be the player who gets hit but you don't know who tagged him because the camera man is out in the clouds and all you can see are these little figures in colorful costumes bobbing and ducking.
Now, there are video production companies that has produced better productions but they pretty much unknown outside the company.
Paintball as an industry has been trying hard to get mainstream for several years. Being mainstream means getting more media coverage. So far the ESPN2 coverage was a decent attempt to make this sport known to people other than the regular players.
Paintball is still a game better appreciated when you are playing it than just watching it.

I can agree with the blogger for 2 reasons.
1. I love playing paintball because it's such an adrenaline rush, but tv coverage of it is fairly boring. They don't have good camera angles and you can't really get into the action (at least shows that I've seen). So, it's just kind of boring.
2. I played soccer in high school and was going to play in college, but I hurt myself during the summer before college, so I couldn't play. Watching soccer made me miss it so much.. I had to just quit watching it--I wanted to watch it and continue to learn more about it, but it made me so mad that I couldn't play.
Guess it all comes down to their perspective..

I agree with you, if a person likes to play the game, watching the game should be almost as good. But I do understand the other person's point of view. Sometimes watching a game you love to play is torture. You just want to jump up and play too. So either way, I can see a point, but I guess it just depends on the individual.

I agree with you but my brother is the same way, he loves to play paintball but he hates watching it on t.v. Maybe its because my brother prefers woodsball and on T.V. was speedball. I dont know, its wierd.
Myself i love paintball and i also love watching it.
